Shootist Posted February 20, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've DL'ed LR demo and have run it a couple of time and I can't fine a simple file browser feature in it. I have to alway go to folders and add another folder to the list. Is there such a feature/option in LR? And where. Â I really don't use the collection feature in any of the image managenment programs I ever tried, nor would I (I don't think). I make a new folder for each day I do any photo work and store all images taken on that day in that folder, at least to start. I then move images into some other folder, like People, Flowers, Landscape, whatever. Â Also is there a setting/preference to change the temp folder used by LR. It seems it like to store everything under the C/Docs & Setting/Username/XXX folder. I really want to change that. I have a separate partition on a secondary hard drive for the temp/cache files for all my image editing programs. I can't seem to find anything relating to the temp/cache folder used by LR in the preference setting dialog.
Advertisement Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Hi Shootist, Take a look here OT: Is there a simple file browser in Lightroom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carlmuck Posted February 20, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Not like "Bridge" has, it is simple to add a folder which can then be navigated, but LR does seem to need to "import" the image. Â Don't know about changing the temp dir. Â c.
Shootist Posted February 20, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks Carl. That's what I expected since I couldn't find the browser part like in Bridge. Yeah this is a big flaw in LR, not being able to change the temp/cache folder. I don't like programs writing to the C:\Docs & Setting folder as a Temp directory. chris_tribble Posted February 20, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Here here! I always set cache data to another partition of the hard drive... does anyone know a workaround?
d_brown Posted February 20, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted February 20, 2007 You can put the Lightroom Library any place you want, or even have multiple libraries. Just Google "lightroom library location" and you'll get lots of help. Â Dale
johnwolf Posted February 20, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted February 20, 2007 Ed, Â The closest thing to a Lightroom browser I know of is the "All photographs" function in the Library. Â John
Shootist Posted February 20, 2007 Author Share #7  Posted February 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks John. That is something I really don't want, IE to have all images in one big lump. Guess LR isn't for my style. If the upgrade to PS CS3 is about the same as CS2 was/is then going to that will be even cheaper then using LR.  Ed, The closest thing to a Lightroom browser I know of is the "All photographs" function in the Library.  John
