Beautiful picture, but imho the tree right in front of the highest mountain is somewhat unfortunate placed. More to the left or right would be better.

Fair comment!

Actually the initial picture was of the tree itself, with the mountain in the background. I have long understood that one shouldn't try to break the mountain line with foreground elements such as trees. (I guess rules are to be broken, though!)

I was on a photographic workshop with Ian Cameron (of "Transient Light" fame) and as we approached this area, the light was falling on the tree and starting to dip behind the ridge behind us, so the image was a bit of a "rush job".

Interesting, if I had presented this as a picture of the tree, would the same comment apply? Just thought I'd contribute an image of a mountain (in the background!)

kindest regards

SteveG

Steve, thanks for the additional information.

To answer your question : I would say Yes!

Mountain and tree are the main actors of that scene.

But there are not corresponding or interacting - if you know what I want to say.

Can you tell me, when the pictures were taken? (Maybe a good time to visit Scotland!;))

Best regards from Germany

Andreas
