HeinzX Posted November 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Once there was a railway - app. 10 years ago - now there is only a rest of it. One pic shows the last buffer stop, one an iron switchbox, which contained the button for changing the railway switch, and the third one the strike back of nature on the embankment:

pauledell Posted November 2, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2011 Heinz, Great shots showing the deterioration of that railroad. Excellent colors and clarity. This has been happening in the USA. Fortunately the railroad companies have either given or sold for a song to local towns and counties after removing all the track and made hiking trails out of the roadbed. stuny Posted November 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 3, 2011 Heinz - A lovely series. Does you title refer to the opening lyrics of the depression era song, Buddy Can You Spare a Dime? "Once I built a railrod, I made it run, I made it run against time. Once I built a railroad, Now it's gone, Buddy can you spare a dime?"
HeinzX Posted November 4, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted November 4, 2011 Hello Stuart, glad that you like the pics too. The title of the pics does not refer to the mentioned song. I didn´t know it before.
