pauledell Posted November 2, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted November 2, 2011 Stuart, Â A great series. My wife wanted to adopt them until I explained they were wild animals and belong in the wild. They are magnificent animals and you photographed them well. Great framing, colors, lighting and sharpness

stuny Posted November 3, 2011 Author Share #9 Â Posted November 3, 2011 MN, Ernst, Dopaco, Paul, Michael, Virgil & Mark - Â Thank you. It was also interesting to observe behaviors: grooming one another, howling which set off other packs howling, rolling and rubbing in what may have been the scent of a formerly living creature, nuzzling and mouthing one another. allamande Posted November 6, 2011 Share #10 Â Posted November 6, 2011 Stuart, These are superb! John Bradshaw has an extensive discussion of wolf behavior (especially as it relates to their descendants today --the dogs) in Dog Sense. They are amazing creatures (both the wolf and the dog). albert Posted November 6, 2011 Share #11 Â Posted November 6, 2011 Is this in a zoo ? They don't seem very wild like our wolves in Minnesota. I do love the photographs.
stuny Posted November 6, 2011 Author Share #12 Â Posted November 6, 2011 Ece - Thank you. Â Al - Thank you. No, not a zoo. It is a huge wolf reserve in weternmost New Jersey. The wolves are largely habituated to people, but given the opportunity you still wouldn't want to touch one.
Akemi-M Posted November 7, 2011 Share #13 Â Posted November 7, 2011 Stuart, Â Lovely series. I love the wild look, in the eyes, of the one standing (and reflected) in the water. It may be worthwhile to crop in on the head and shoulders (and the reflected image). Thank you for sharing these. Â Best regards, Robert

Joachim123 Posted November 13, 2011 Share #17 Â Posted November 13, 2011 Fantastic!!! Yours and Dougs photos are excellent. I am contemplating purchasing a 180mm lens for my R. Just deciding on which one so that I can try to photograph some wildlife. I have never shot wildlife before. How the hell do you sneek up on these wolves???? stuny Posted November 14, 2011 Author Share #18 Â Posted November 14, 2011 Mike, Bob & Joachim - Â Thank you. Wolves are exceptionally shy of people and it is very difficult to photograph them. Most of the wolves in these four packs are habituated to people and although in a huge reserve will not hide when people dare present.
