jpattison Posted November 1, 2011 Share #3  Posted November 1, 2011 Vinster, I think you are reading it from the hotshoe- upside down! Try the box.... or the guarantee booklet  John
asmith Posted November 1, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted November 1, 2011 I think you'll find that if you try again omitting the leading zero you will be successful. That is what happened to me. The zero occurs on the box but not on the camera. Alwyn

StephenPatterson Posted November 1, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted November 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Don't forget you can also add older Leica cameras and lenses to the online registration at the Owner's Site. While this will not get you a warranty on a 40 year old lens it is nice to have all of your Leica items and their serial numbers saved in one location. If you were to ever have an item lost or stolen it's nice to be able to quickly retrieve this information from anywhere in the world (with internet). vinster Posted November 1, 2011 Author Share #8 Â Posted November 1, 2011 Thought i had it sorted, but still wont accept serial number, wonder if its because this is an ex-demo camera and may have been regestered before
satijntje Posted November 1, 2011 Share #9  Posted November 1, 2011 Thought i had it sorted, but still wont accept serial number, wonder if its because this is an ex-demo camera and may have been regestered before  I had the same problem once with a M8 and had to phone to Solms. They fixed the problem, and later that day I could register it without any problems.   Similar issue: Does anybody has experiences with second hand stuff. What happens if the original owner has registered it, and you have bought the stuff second hand without knowing the owner (so no possibility to contact him or her for de-registration).  How does Solms handle this???  John
StephenPatterson Posted November 1, 2011 Share #10 Â Posted November 1, 2011 I purchased my M8.2 used, and the former owner had already registered it, so I was not able to. As the warranty period had expired I didn't pursue it, but I imagine that you could send in documentation via email (bill of sale, photo of camera) and get the registration changed. Â I'm not aware that it's possible for an owner to "de-register" a Leica product.

pico Posted November 3, 2011 Share #14 Â Posted November 3, 2011 Someone at Leica, or whomever is managing the online registration, should, metaphorically kick the programmer in the butt and tell him to fix the data entered and stored. It's an amateur programmer error.
lct Posted November 3, 2011 Share #15 Â Posted November 3, 2011 Leica cannot know that a camera has been sold as long as neither the seller nor the buyer declare it to them.
