jim sink Posted October 31, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted October 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone know if the Dlux5 delivers the kind of B&W images as the M9. I know there is a difference in Sensor size but I'm just curious if I could get B&W quality from the Dlux5 similar to the M9 quality.

They'll be good, but not as good.
J_Thompson Posted October 31, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted October 31, 2011 There's no way a small-sensor pocket camera can compete with a full-sensor camera, although under optimum conditions, the D-Lux 5 can do a pretty good job. Just don't expect it to produce high quality enlargements of which the M9 is capable. I love my D-Lux 5 for its handiness, but it's no match for my M8 with a Summicron. StephenPatterson Posted October 31, 2011 Share #4  Posted October 31, 2011 I love the D-Lux 5. It was my first digital Leica and it quickly lead to my purchase of an M8.2 and then an M9-P.  When I first got the D-Lux 5 I shot the following photo in Hong Kong. This was using the in camera B&W jpeg. I liked it a lot. Welcome, dear visitor! Zeiss 21/2.8 Biogon, converted in Silver Efex Pro. I didn't have the original in front of me when I was composing this shot, but it's pretty close.  The more you enlarge the M9-P photo the more striking the difference becomes.  Both are great cameras, but comparing them isn't really fair.  Stephen
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!  When I got my M9-P I decided to return to the same spot and try to recreate the image, only this time with a full frame sensor.
