lmmo Posted October 31, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! I'm looking for a Leica M9-P (silver chrome version). Can you share any retailers that might have this on stock? If not, does anyone did reserve a M9-P? How did the process go? Cheers, Luciano

OwinThomas Posted October 31, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2011 Good luck in your search. Every time I've asked a UK dealer for a chrome M9-P all I hear from the other end of the phone is laughter. They are, as we say in the UK, as rare as rocking horse droppings The back version is in plenty supply by the looks of things. Think the best route is to place your order with one of the Leica Premier dealers, they seem to be geting their stock a little quicker than the ordinary dealers. Double Negative Posted October 31, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2011 Where in Europe? Or does it matter? The problem is, it doesn't even matter so much - availability is very tight on most things right now. Not so much on M9/M9-P bodies... But lenses? Ugh. Assuming that they will ship the camera to a EU country any location would work. I only feedback I got for several retailers is that I should expect between 2 to 6 months to delivery. andybarton Posted November 2, 2011 Share #13 Posted November 2, 2011 Don't sell to Portugal? What's the point of having a "common market" and the EU, if companies won't sell to residents of other member states?
marknorton Posted November 2, 2011 Share #14 Posted November 2, 2011 What's the point of having a "common market" and the EU, if companies won't sell to residents of other member states? Romania is part of the EU but I don't like selling there... I waited 3 months for mine from Red Dot.
marknorton Posted November 2, 2011 Share #15 Posted November 2, 2011 Sold USED for $6900. If you're going to spend this kind of money why not buy new? Err... that's the point of this thread. Of course many would like to buy new but they are unavailable so some will be happy to buy secondhand, even at a premium, to get instant availability. It may be just a cosmetic upgrade but it's the camera the M9 should have been all along.

Oh sorry, I thought the point of this thread was to help the OP find a retailer (dealer) that might have one in stock in Europe. I thought listing a closed auction for a 6 month old used M9-P was misleading, as the only number given was the selling price, which was less than MSRP. lmmo Posted November 2, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted November 2, 2011 Don't sell to Portugal? What's the point of having a "common market" and the EU, if companies won't sell to residents of other member states? Actually, those guys were the first ones to provide a answer like that. I didn't find any problem in the past when buying from UK or Germany.
StephenPatterson Posted November 2, 2011 Share #18 Posted November 2, 2011 Luciano, it might be best to find your closest Leica authorized dealer and form a relationship. If he knows you are serious about Leica, and not just wanting a camera to resell on ebay, then it's much more likely that you will be able to get a silver chrome M9-P sooner. Also Leica dealers like photographers as opposed to speculators, because we come back year after year to purchase. Speculators are only around trying to pick off supply to make a quick buck, and do nothing to help the brand (in fact they hurt it). Stephen
daive Posted November 2, 2011 Share #19 Posted November 2, 2011 Don't sell to Portugal? What's the point of having a "common market" and the EU, if companies won't sell to residents of other member states? The point that Leica doesn´t want the retailer to ship cameras to neighbouring countries in my opinion is, that it simply would make it useless for Leica to plan the allocation of different production batches. Today my Chrome Version arrived at one of the largest retailers in Germany. I "ordered" it about two months ago with no "special relations". Yesterday I was afraid, it might not arrive before Christmas and the retailer also wasn´t sure at all. So i guess in general they are more pessimistic at first...
