stunsworth Posted October 31, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2011 What's the best method of removing and replacing my M6 Leica dot? I'm replacing it with a black dot. If you run a toothpick around the edge of the dot you should be able to lift it off the body. The dots come with a self-adhesive back so aren't difficult to remove or fit. gravastar Posted November 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 3, 2011 Often there isn't enough of a gap between the dot and the camera body to insert a tool in the gap/under the dot. An alternative method is: The first rule is to use wooden or plastic instruments else a slip will scratch the paint on the camera body. The dots are held in place by double sided adhesive tape. You can get it to release by repeatedly rotating the dot backwards and forwards. If you use two toothpicks one against the side of the letter "a" and the other against the letter "L" and push it's possibe to get the dot to rotate slightly in an anticlockwise direction. Now change the position of the picks and rotate the dot clockwise. If you repeat this sequence several times, rotating the dot further each time, it will eventually release. You can remove any residual adhesive from the camera body with a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Bob.
