Guest Benqui Posted October 30, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) In this section you find some beautiful restored cars from Padua. If you have a look at the prices it seems that a lot of people now invest their money in oldtimers. Have fun, Best regards Marc

stuny Posted October 31, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 31, 2011 Marc - A lovely set. I especially like the Alfa in #1, though I don't recognize the model, and the 904 in #2. Auctions of collectable cars have been setting new record prices again throughout 2011
Guest Benqui Posted October 31, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 31, 2011 Paul, Ernst, Bob and Stuart, thank you very much for your positive comments! Shame on me Stuart, I do not know exactly which type of Alfa we have in #1. I added a photo of the left side of the Alfa. It must be a very rare car. But I like much more the front of this car. I am sure, Ronald will know this type, I will ask him. Best regards Marc
Rona!d Posted October 31, 2011 Share #7 Posted October 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am sure, Ronald will know this type, I will ask him. Marc, that is an 8C 2900B Le Mans, made in 1938 by Touring for Le Mans racing. Alfa got it in exchange for a rare 158. Some people say that was bad deal, some say, it was a good deal. I like it, reminds me of the BMW Kamm-Heck and that rear design also influenced much later Zagatos (in a way). But that´s my personal opinion
Rona!d Posted October 31, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 31, 2011 You should hear the engine, that is most impressive! The car belongs to the Alfa museum collection.

stuny Posted November 1, 2011 Share #12 Posted November 1, 2011 Marc - Unlike Rona|d I do not like the rear but find the front beautiful. The rear window is actually rather comical from a practical standpoint.
Guest Benqui Posted November 1, 2011 Share #13 Posted November 1, 2011 Stuart I agree, in my opinion the front side is a beauty, the rear side makes the car very sluggish. Regards Marc
Rona!d Posted November 1, 2011 Share #14 Posted November 1, 2011 Oh no, I just said, I like the car and the rear reminds on a another special car. From the design point of view I´d prefer a convertible/roadster version of that model, but this is a very special car made for a very special purpose: Winning Le Mans (and maybe some other races). They did well with it and where faster than some of the experienced makers, although that car did not finish Le Mans in 1938 as far my memory goes. Even some of the lovely Zagatos didn´t get design prices in their time, but they were fast and light - made for racing - mostly.
gmo Posted November 24, 2011 Share #15 Posted November 24, 2011 Marc, The Alfa was in the lead and some 160 Km ahead of the next car but had to retire after a tyre problem and a broken valve. Apparently it never raced after that. Regards Gerd
