Pecole Posted October 30, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been extremely lucky to find an original copy - in nearly perfect condition - of the Leitz 1905 catalogue. This brochure is 150 by 235 mm size and contains 20 pages (17 printed and 3 blank) under an olive green coloured and stamped hard paper cover. The title is "Ernst Leitz Optisch-mech. Werkstätte Wetzlar". It describes and illustrates various Summar and Periplan lenses, as well as the Klapp-Kamera and Moment-Kamera. Here are some reproductions. pop Posted October 30, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2011 Beautiful! In particular, I am fascinated with page 12 where they write that the Summars of the series II are symmetrical constructions where you can use the halves individually.
iphoenix Posted October 31, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2011 What a wonderful piece of Leica history. Page 8 Fig.3 is my favourite, showing the development of the focus lever and body similarities to the early lenses.
luigi bertolotti Posted October 31, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 31, 2011 Nice finding !!! The styling of the cover and the engravure of the factory are also little masterpieces of their own... . Interesting also tat in 1905 Leitz had already two branches in USA (and one in Russia, too).
gyoung Posted October 31, 2011 Share #6 Posted October 31, 2011 Beautiful! In particular, I am fascinated with page 12 where they write that the Summars of the series II are symmetrical constructions where you can use the halves individually. In theory you could do that with the Schneider Symmars too, although in all the years I used them I never tried it! Gerry
