peterv Posted February 16, 2007 Share #41 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice indeed, Jamie! Â Don't worry about the haircolour, we've seen that in Europe 5 years ago ... Ah, hairfashion.
Advertisement Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Hi peterv, Take a look here Leica M8 seems to be a commercial success.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sdai Posted February 16, 2007 Share #42 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Nice shot, Jamie! Â Although I currently do not own a M8 and do not have any immediate plan to buy one ... I must admit that it's exactly this type of threads keep me hanging around.
Jamie Roberts Posted February 16, 2007 Share #43 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Peter--thanks! Â This colour has been popular in Toronto proper for about the same time--around 5 years--but in some of the outlying areas it's just "getting there." Â What kills me is that all the clients I used the M8 on had this dyed hair! It's proof of the weird ways random things happen. I'd say it must be that we attract women with this in some weird way, but the woman in the shot, when she booked us, had her (natural) blonde hair! Â @ Simon--thanks, too! peterv Posted February 16, 2007 Share #44 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Jamie, isn't that strange! I guess it must be 'written in the stars' or 'Zeitgeist'. These 'coincidences' are the little daily things that make you wonder... Â Cheers, Â Peter
lct Posted February 16, 2007 Share #45 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Am i alone to see some green cast in Jamie's roses above? If i try to adjust this a bit i get some red cast everywhere. Did you shoot this picture with an IR-cut filter, Jamie?
Vivek Iyer Posted February 16, 2007 Share #46 Â Posted February 16, 2007 There is green cast. A wonderful capture (little to do with the camera, I think), otherwise. Â LCT, How do you deal with the cyan casts from Epson R-D1? I see (R-D1s) all the time.
Jamie Roberts Posted February 16, 2007 Share #47 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Vivek and LCT... Â First, thanks for the kind words... Â You're right, there is a green cast in the corners because I actually burned in / vignetted the corners on this shot (sorry--it's got a little more post than I usually have when I post here--I like to have them "right out of the camera" but this one I had ready for something else.). Â In the actual TIFF from C1, there is no cast; green or otherwise (this is also a down-convert to sRGB for the web too). Â And, as I said before, this was unfiltered. Â As for dealing with true cyan casts, aside from using something dead easy like Panotools, another good way to do this is to add a highly feathered selection in PS over a new layer, fill the corners with "red" and set the layer to overlay, then adjust the transparency. sean_reid Posted February 16, 2007 Share #48 Â Posted February 16, 2007 If you allways only look at the theoretical negative side of a product you wont never ever find a product which makes you happy. If it is not the M8 it probably also wont be the M9 or M10. Â Magenta problems are non existent in the moment you use a 486 filter. Â Cyan corners areonly a problem for some images in 28mm and wider and (hopefully) be a non issue as soon as we got firmware 1.10. Â How many of the issues would be issues for real USE? Â Just a quick note that cyan drift is present in 35 mm lenses and, in trace amounts, with some 50 mm lenses. But...its only an issue (in my experience of testing lots of lenses) with 35s and wider and 1.10 should deal with the problem for coded lenses. Â Cheers, Â Sean
lct Posted February 16, 2007 Share #49 Â Posted February 16, 2007 ...LCT, How do you deal with the cyan casts from Epson R-D1?... I have none but i only use the Epson raw converter and i always remove the Epson profile, perhaps it comes from this i don't know.
jaapv Posted February 17, 2007 Share #50  Posted February 17, 2007 Hi Jaap, but I am a dealer !! buying one for myself though. So buying it at dealer price makes me stick with Trans.  Wel *embarrassed* I got my first body in the 2nd week of November and the second I ordered on December 28th and received on Jan 3rd, so I think you need to have a serious talk with your supply person at Transcontinenta. Ecaton Posted February 17, 2007 Share #51  Posted February 17, 2007 magenta-problems, cyan-vignetting, bad auto-whitebalance, sudden death, no enviromental sealing, porr metering method, backfocus, no pc-socket etc. thanks, not for me.  Why don't you sell yours, it might help shorten somebody's wait. In case your negative opinion is based on hearsay only, trust me, you miss a lot of fun.
Hans Roggen Posted February 17, 2007 Share #52  Posted February 17, 2007 For Jaap Interesting you can get an M8 in a couple of days (in Holland?) while i have ordered mine in september by Transcontinenta and am still waiting! Apparently it won't come thru the Dutch agency representing Leica?  Regards, Donald  Hi Donald,  When i picked up my finder magnifier last week they had one at the Combifoto store in Ede, so if you're still looking you might want to give them a call.  Hans
