jaapv Posted February 16, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The very same people that don't understand that there is a IR filter somewhere in any sensor-based imagening system and only think about it when they can actually see it. At least with a M8 one can remove it when not needed. Most other digital camera's, well, my camera bag has no pouch for a hack-saw...
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 16, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Interesting I sort of counted that i shot 9000 frames since Nov.6th. Still rocking and rolling by the time a M9 comes out maybe 900,000. Sure i will wait for a M9 ,maybe i can go into retirment for 3 years and wait it out. LOL
cocker Posted February 16, 2007 Share #23  Posted February 16, 2007 Indeed it will, but I prefer enjoying the great tool at hand, despite some quibbles. Life is too short to waste. It is an interesting thing, this cargo cult mentality, always waiting for the treasure ship to arrive from the distant horizon. It leads to tribes lounging on deserted beaches, scratching their sand-flea sores and dying out in the end in disappointment....  Jaap  Brilliant :D:D:D
pascal_meheut Posted February 16, 2007 Share #24  Posted February 16, 2007 time will tell that i´m right with waiting. let´s speak again in some months...  Make it some years or even decades or centuries and we got a deal...
ddp Posted February 16, 2007 Share #25  Posted February 16, 2007 we don´t need more lenses, we need a digital m camera which works without problems!  Yes, and I'd love a Nikon DSLR that doesn't have issues. And I'm sure some of the Canon guys could chime in as well.  This is new territory for Leica, and some of what I've seen posted looks pretty good to me. I assumed there would be teething problems with a digital M - afterall, Nikon had horrific magenta issus with the D1 back in Y2K. Truly horrific. The D2H had it's share of problems as well. D2X seems a bit better, but we still have the occasional backfocus problem. So this is after 7 years of Nikon pro level bodies...  And from a statistical standpoint - the amount of users that encounter the problems and post about them is probably miniscule to the amount that own the camera, enjoy it and use the solutions at hand. Donald Posted February 16, 2007 Share #26  Posted February 16, 2007 For Jaap  Interesting you can get an M8 in a couple of days (in Holland?) while i have ordered mine in september by Transcontinenta and am still waiting! Apparently it won't come thru the Dutch agency representing Leica?  Regards, Donald
Guest magyarman Posted February 16, 2007 Share #27 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some time when I read from people who expend big money on M8 and try to make square everyone else head convints what is bat is really good, I wander myself, how many more bat was possibly M8 could been and this people still would try make some explain how is really good I thing mabe if Leica was made it body without nothing inside still some people will say is best one camera in world :D Â Is good habitude for personality I belief. jaapv Posted February 16, 2007 Share #28  Posted February 16, 2007 Transcontinenta is the importer and basically does not supply users. One has to go through the shops. Camera-express in Capelle usually has the camera in stock or within days and Autofocus in Bussum is worth a try as well.  For Jaap Interesting you can get an M8 in a couple of days (in Holland?) while i have ordered mine in september by Transcontinenta and am still waiting! You're getting rather repetitive. If you are ever in Holland stop by and we'll have an afternoon M8 fun. It will really clean up the forum.
Donald Posted February 16, 2007 Share #30 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Hi Jaap, Â but I am a dealer !! buying one for myself though. So buying it at dealer price makes me stick with Trans.
pascal_meheut Posted February 16, 2007 Share #31 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Man - go out and try one! Â This is exactly what he'll never do: going out. Too dangerous outside: some real life, some other people, even women maybe. Why going out when you can troll on the Net and pretend you have something to say by just repeating the same nonsense over and over again ?

mikelc Posted February 16, 2007 Share #33 Â Posted February 16, 2007 ....always intrigued by these kind of cult anti cult shouts on these types of forums...anyway until last week i was a canon 1dsII user and decided to go for the m8 instead of the 5d as my second camera...after less than a week i'm blown away by the m8...the files are as good as the ids and sharper and crisper...i shoot in raw always so the maj/cyan problem was not a concern to me (these issues are usually always resolved in finermware)...and as far as seal...i shot in a snow/hail/wind storm a few days ago in Prospect Park Bklyn and the camera handled it better than i did...it's a whole new way to shoot for me and i love the simlicity of it all despite its enormous complexity...i'm selling most of my canon lenses to reinvest here...glad i made the plunge:)

george + Posted February 16, 2007 Share #35 Â Posted February 16, 2007 This is kind of a fun string. Shows how true it is that this world is composed of optimists, pessimists and some obnoxious silly fools. Â I like to think of myself as an optimist and am delighted with my M8. Â As to where you all fit; make up your own minds! And have a joyous week-end! Shooting your M8-s, or whatever.
pascal_meheut Posted February 16, 2007 Share #36 Â Posted February 16, 2007 need it some filter what nobody other need it. Â Try to really go out sometimes and you'll discover that other cameras need the filter too... Â LOL on the "like other Leica cameras but only digital". The "only digital" stuff has slightly changed a few things when it comes to cameras. Â Really, there is a world outside, you should take a look at it
carstenw Posted February 16, 2007 Share #37 Â Posted February 16, 2007 Back to the original topic of this thread: Â I live in Berlin, Germany, and there is only one official dealer here, which even has a special relationship with Leica. They cannot keep the M8 in stock, nor the lenses. Every time they get anything at all in, it immediately sells out again. They even sold two 75 Luxes at full retail!
