I am finding several different numbers, i think 69.25-mm is correct but i have seen a few other number floating around? Am i correct that it has been the same since the M4? marknorton Posted February 14, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 14, 2007 That number is the physical baseline length, the distance between the optical axes of the two parts of the rangefinder, ball-park, the distance between the centres of the two windows. Â However, viewfinder magnification changes the effective baseline length. With the M8, the magnification is 0.68 which gives an effective baseline of 47.1mm. That's why a viewfinder magnifier helps focussing - it increases the effective baseline length back up to 58.9mm. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
