Okay this is not funny. I am out growing the A&A Image Smith bag :D :D :D Yea the grin is i have to much ...it. So logic says get a bigger one. Well i did i got the A&A Holiday Paris Bag here check this out Artisan&Artist* Bags. beautiful bag no question but honestly too big so i am going to just sell it the hassle of returning it is a pain so brand new if anyone is interested but still need a bag that i am thinking more like a briefcase style to get to the jobs were I need everything. Idea's

Bags are like shoes too my wife. never big enough , never small or light enough and simply never too many to have and than you have to put the fashion statement in there it has to be a Fogg, Billingham, A&A or some other real expensive swanky disco bag. Glad i am not that vein just need a bigger bag. ROTFLMAO

Seriously i do like high quality bags making fun of myself here.

If I had your selection of lenses and 2 M8's and wanted to take your 15in MBP on the road I'd take a long hard look at the Billingham 555. But seeing as I only have 4 lenses and 1 body and my 17in MBP won't fit in the side pocket it sits unused which is such a shame for one of the best bags I have ever had the pleasure of using. This bag was so comfortable carrying my Canon stuff but is a little too big for my current collection which pails in comparison to yours :D .

Guy,

while maybe not the "prettiest" bags out there, Kata is making some very strong, light and very versatile stuff that gets the job done. You mentioned a "briefcase" style as an option. Take a look at the Kata OC-82, or if you really wanted something bigger the OC-84. However, the OC-82 looks like it could easily handle a couple M8s and a brace of lenses, as you can configure the interior to your needs. (Neat yellow interior color makes things very visible and easy to find.) It has two main compartment areas: one is deep for cameras, lenses, and accessories, while the other sitting atop will hold your MBP with ease and keep it will protected. You were looking for ideas.....this is one to check out.

Damn LJ that is what i am looking for something like that and only 5.5 high on the inside which is what i want , don't want to dig for stuff. I was wandering about lightware but i think they maybe too big. For me it is 2 bodies with lenses and 5 more plus the Metz which is the issue I have now can't fit it except laying it across. Plus the normal extra's. Hmmm

Guy,

The Kata was designed to hold a couple of DSLRs, plus lenses and a flash. Given the size of the Leica stuff, I think you would get everything in rather nicely, and maybe have a bit of room to grow into. The one thing is that this is a briefcase, not a shoulder bag, so you would be setting this down to open and get at stuff, but that is how you might be working at a shoot. Not endorsing them, but I have a light stand bag the is absolutey killer for dragging light stands and stuff. I keep looking at their shoulder bags, but cannot find what I need or like. This briefacse thing has some real potential.

Guy,

I was talking with guys at Thinktankphoto--I use their Airport Acceleration for traveling overseas--about a shoulder bag to suit serious M8 users. Doug said that they will have something really good coming out in March. So, if you can wait that long, it might be worth the wait. Sign up for notification at their site.

Thanks Joe I do like the think tank stff they have a normal briefcase now that is very nice but not for camera's but i can wait a little longer. Bags are really a personal thing and you really must like them or they just turn into being a pain for you. I really like my A&A bags and will keep them at least the Oskar One day . Love the little one for a body and a couple lenses for traveling

Looked at those military ops bags, and agree that people wouldn't think you were carrying a camera. They'd think you were carrying a gun. 8-)

Guy, I have two Kata bags, and they are unbelievably tough, but they are also somewhat over-padded IMHO. You can throw them in the back of a truck without breaking anything, though. They used to sell what I think is probably the best SLR hiking pack, but they don't make it anymore. You should also know that you can (or used to be able to) buy additional strips of heavy-duty padding and velcro supports so that you can completely customize the inside of the bags. They started out making protective ballistic vests, etc., so they know about protective materials.

One question you have to answer is whether you're limited by size (do you want to carry-on when you travel by air), weight (how far do you have to carry stuff -- would it be better if you rolled it?) or do you just want the biggest damn thing you can get? Don't forget that you can buy those little roller-racks like airlines people use, that fold up, and you can stick any kind of bag on one of those

I haven't done it yet, but later tonight I think I'm going to order an A&A Penns Pad & Pencil satchel for the Leica...

Guy,

Now this is serious, and for your own good. A bunch of us who care about you have come together for your own good and are having this intervention.

You can't leave this room until you sell half your lenses. Now is a bigger bag really your problem or is it something deeper?

All the Best,

I might move to having single camera kits

that is 1 camera and associated gear in each bag

I would take both kits to a job

but individually each kit is a lot lighter

maybe you can think of ways to divide your kit into cameras, lenses, flash support etc, there is something to be said for a more lightweight kit, because on extended more mobile shoots, the kit you left behind is always the one you need.

Thaks Mitchell i need some serious help. LOL

Actually that is what I have done the last couple days is take both the Oskar and the Image Smith. The Oskar carries the junk and the image smith carries the goodies and actually worked pretty good. I guess the briefcase or small roller which i have one is what would be good for certain locations not really the reportage stuff but the setup shoots where i do take the kitchen sink along too

Nothing wrong with having a bag for each scenario. I have three on the go at the moment. At the weekend I bought my first ever Billingham - a Hadley Original in black, at a bit of a knock down price because it was an ex-display. Man, that is one good bag. It looks small but I can get one body, two zooms, a prime, my flash and my leica d-lux 2 in it and still have room in the pockets for odds and ends.
