carstenw Posted February 17, 2007 Share #41 Posted February 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wilfredo, the focusing ring doesn't couple with the rangefinder. With this lens there is so much depth of field that it isn't a problem. Normally I just leave it on infinity at f/5.6, but you can also just guess the distance. Skippy Sanchez Posted February 18, 2007 Share #42 Posted February 18, 2007 Skippy, what kind of adapter do you have? i have the one from cameraquest that came with both the 21 and 15. they couple very well, and i have no issues with them at all. however, i got a loaner M8 for a few weeks and i noticed a some (just a few) metal filings in the camera body yesterday. now, i've been changing lenses A LOT --both leica & CV-- so there's no proof that the filings are from any one particular lens, or perhaps they were there when i got the M8 about 10 days ago. it's just something to keep an eye on, that's all. I've been using the M8 on newspaper assignments almost daily and it's been a jewel (except for the IR issue, but i've got a photoshop a work-around for most of that), and the CV lenses are great. the only issue i have with them is they're slow. There are a few fast CV lenses worth considering, including the 28m f/1.9, 35mm f/1.2, 40mm f/1.4, and 50mm f/1.5.

Yes, i'm aware of the faster CV lenses, I was only refering to the 15 & 21. I also have the 40 1.4 & I absolutely LOVE it. matter of fact, i just modified the mount to bring up the 35mm frame lines, which are much closer .
