sean_reid Posted February 13, 2007 Share #21 Posted February 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sean, wouldn't the lack of focus coupling hinder the use of CV lens longer than wide angle? The only CV lenses that are not coupled are the 12, 15 and 25. It's a problem for the 25 at larger apertures and that's a shame because its an excellent lens as one can see from the review. An RF-coupled CV 25 is apparently in the works. Otherwise, some CV lenses are M mount and others are screw-mount and use LTM-M adapters for full functionality. Cheers, Sean
Fotomiguel Posted February 13, 2007 Author Share #22 Posted February 13, 2007 Thank you very much for all the replies. I think I'm going to buy i the 15mm Heliar if I find it. The quality of the files you've showed is quite good for the price. So I'm going to dig a little bit deeper in my pocket and see what happen. Thanks again. Miguel. Enoteca Posted February 13, 2007 Share #23 Posted February 13, 2007 I put some masking tape on the viewfinder so i have the same angle the camera gets. Hi Stefan, could you please explain, what you meant by this? Didn't get it. Greetings from the Magenta-Forest Manfred
adan Posted February 14, 2007 Share #25 Posted February 14, 2007 ...or in other words, the Cosina 15mm viewfinder included with the 15mm lens frames for film, so needs cropping with tape if one wants to use it with the 15mm on the M8. Alternatively, one can just get a 20 or 21mm viewfinder for use with the 15mm lens and the M8's smaller-then-film sensor. Same field of view in the end. I just use my 21mm Leitz viewfinder with the 15mm (and my 28mm viewfinder for the 21 lens, and the cropped 28mm finder built into the camera for the 28mm). It was a wonderful coincidence that my preferred wide lenses on film happen to increase in 1.33x steps, so they can "borrow" each others' finders for use on the M8. stunsworth Posted February 14, 2007 Share #26 Posted February 14, 2007 Get the Voigtlander 21mm finder. You can use the framelines on the M8, and if you use the 15mm on a film camera ignore the framelines and use the whole of the viewfinder.
mikelc Posted February 16, 2007 Share #27 Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) just got the cv 15mm..love it ..can't believe how sharp it is and how inexpensive...i'm also fine with the 15vf it came with...you just have to adjust to it...i'd play with it for a while before buying the 21 mike
Rona!d Posted February 16, 2007 Share #28 Posted February 16, 2007 The EF 2.8/20 on the 5D is a crap. I sent mine back after two days. Every lens/body combination would win against this couple The CV15 on the M8 is working (like it does on analog bodies), i will keep mine. But since i know the new Tri-Elmar it´s not the question which lens fits best on the M8. Have a bad cold, but weather is really good and i hope to be able to deliver you some shots with BOTH lenses (if my cold allows some walks in the winter-sun). cheers, Ron
Stephen.s1 Posted February 16, 2007 Share #29 Posted February 16, 2007 Mine works fine with the M6 andM8. However the adapter is a bit snug in the 6 and awfully tight in the 8. Anyone else with this prob? Thanks, S
carstenw Posted February 16, 2007 Share #30 Posted February 16, 2007 My adapter was also tight in the beginning. It loosens up.
sean_reid Posted February 16, 2007 Share #31 Posted February 16, 2007 A lot of lenses and adapters feel a bit tight on the M8. Cheers, Sean
xjr Posted February 16, 2007 Share #32 Posted February 16, 2007 I have used this lense and if you take care in its use i.e. metering and levelness as well as subject matter it will not disappoint you. There is no rangefinder coupling but then again you don't need one, such is the depth of field. At f4.5 everything from 1m or 2m or so to infinity is in focus ! The built quality and lense glass reflect its price..as well as the f-number which is quite adequate if I may add. However you do get a lot for the price. The picture of the church is a good example. ChrisC Posted February 17, 2007 Share #33 Posted February 17, 2007 I put some masking tape on the viewfinder so i have the same angle the camera gets. Stefan - This is not a good idea and I recommend you remove the tape as soon as possible. Many tapes react badly with daylight to bond with what they are stuck on, and then cannot be peeled off. Masking tape can be particularly ferocious in that respect. You might already be correctly suspecting that I learned this lesson the costly way. .........................Chris
cometsoft Posted February 17, 2007 Share #34 Posted February 17, 2007 How about gaffer's tape? I've had that on some cameras for years, and there is no residue or bonding when pulled off. hammam Posted February 17, 2007 Share #35 Posted February 17, 2007 If I recall what Cameraquest says about the 15/4.5 Heliar, it seems tricky to attach a filter. Be aware of that. Other than that, if it's just as good as the CV 21/4, then it must be very good. I love the 21. I also ordered the CV 28/1.9 and I'm anxiously awaiting it. stunsworth Posted February 17, 2007 Share #36 Posted February 17, 2007 Olivier, the 15 doesn't have any filter threads. But Robert Stevens suggested taking the glass out of a 39mm filter and glueing the filter ring back to front on the lens hood. A reversed 39mm filter could then be attached to that. I wouldn't expect this to work too well for film ,as i may introduce even more vignetting, but it should be ok if the lens is being used on an M8 - which in Robert's case I believe it is. erg Posted February 17, 2007 Share #37 Posted February 17, 2007 The Voigtlader 15 mm is currently my favorite lens for the M8. As there is no similar option available, the CV 15 is the best M8 wideangle lens. Welcome, dear visitor! Skippy Sanchez Posted February 17, 2007 Share #38 Posted February 17, 2007 ...However the adapter is a bit snug in the 6 and awfully tight in the 8. Anyone else with this prob? Thanks, S Yep, they ARE tight, and they DO loosen up, but you really need to watch for little bitty metal filings in the camera body as a result. i spotted some yesterday and now plan to make a habit of brushing the camera & lens mounts every few days if i do a lot of lens changes. those filings will cause big trouble once they work their way into the body. wilfredo Posted February 17, 2007 Share #40 Posted February 17, 2007 I'm impressed by these pictures. What does it mean that it is not range finder coupled? No frame lines in the viewfinder? Thanks, Wilfredo+ Benitez-Rivera Photography
