larsv Posted December 30, 2016 Share #1861 Posted December 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Spot on! The island is owned by the Dutch gvt and leased out to a couple that runs the island. In summer they run a temporary outside restaurant on the island (the last picture) and in winter a restaurant in one of the larger ammo buildings. You can only get to the island by boat and it is an hour from the Amsterdam harbor. The island forms one of the last additions to the "Stelling van Amsterdam", Amsterdam's defense line formed in a circle around the city. The start of the defense line was approximately 300 years ago and the battery on Vuurtoreneiland was only added in the late 19th century, while the decision was taken in the beginning of that century. Together with two other islands (Pampus and Diemerdam) it guarded the entrance of the Amsterdam harbor. Your turn.

larsv Posted January 1, 2017 Share #1869 Posted January 1, 2017 Happy New Year! Red Rocks Amphitheater and Museum?
adan Posted January 1, 2017 Share #1870 Posted January 1, 2017 Close enough. Technically, it is the Red Rocks Visitor Center (shop, Ship Rock Grille, patio, etc.) - for the whole park, although architecturally, also the upper plaza of the amphitheater. The park covers 640 acres/260 hectares, of which the amphitheater is only about 1%. http://redrocksonline.com/images/info/_wygimg/RR_roadmap_OnlineParking_v10.png The Hall of Fame is actually in the Red Rocks Trading Post, an older building down the hill. Which also yet has another shop (ahh, American merchandising!) http://redrocksonline.com/special-events/weddings-meetings/our-facility/trading-post-backyard
