East Asia? Maybe somewhere, where the Brits had a colony?

AFAIK this country has never been "colonised". Now there's a hint for you all.

Thailand, if I recall, is the only SE Asian country that escaped/avoided colonization.

That's the country - now aim for the building. It's part of a larger complex.

Oh come on folks! - final clue - it's between Cha Am and Hua Hin!

I believe there is a royal palace between the two, but we never made it there.

I think for my purposes that will be close enough Stuart. It's the Mrigadayavan Palace, dating form the 1920s. the building I show is the King's Bathing Pavilion. There's a matching one further along for The Queen.

 

I had to blag my way in to join the limited number of people allowed "upstairs" at a time as the building is considered fragile. Access arrangements had changed from the visit a few years previously. Shoes off was the rule!
