guyhein Posted September 27, 2012 Share #141 Posted September 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) agree, also the B&W (M8 jpgs) and IR capabilities make it an interesting option.IR photography is still on my to do list admittedly. M8 delivers excellent astrophotos, in comparison with M9. The sky is a neutral gray, whereas the sky with M9 is bluish.

skinnfell Posted September 29, 2012 Share #143 Posted September 29, 2012 No picture, since I sold my M8 to fund my M9, but I wanted to chip in that the pictures from the M8 can still hold their own against much more modern cameras. With Lightroom 4, my old M8 files really clean up very well, even at 1250. Provided you shot DNG of course! The jpgs really sucks. I have re-processed my old files from M8, and compared to similar shots from my 5D3 the M8 files still look better in print, despite being less than half the megapixels. (28mm/2 on leica and 35mm/1.4 on canon. Of course, there are limits to how large you can make a 10mp file, but it resses up beautifully to at least double that. I just add some slight monochrome grain before I print, It camoflages the jaggies and brings out the sharpness. Go M8!

fotografr Posted October 8, 2012 Share #153 Posted October 8, 2012 Love that B&W version, Andy. Nearly six years later, the M8 is still my all time favorite digital camera, and in that time I've owned several Nikon and Canon full frame dSLRs, and some Panasonic and Fuji P&S cameras. I like the M8 both for it's handling and the fact that the images are the most film-like I've seen from any digital camera.

Revdockj Posted October 12, 2012 Share #159 Posted October 12, 2012 I'm planning on an MM, but my M8 will not be going anywhere--except for everywhere with me. It is and always will be my take everywhere, point and shoot camera. Until one of us dies. Ken

I like the M8 both for it's handling and the fact that the images are the most film-like I've seen from any digital camera. That`s the point. I love shooting with the M8 at 320 or 640 ASA with the aperture wide open (I use a grey filter when it`s to bright) and i simply love the look. The camera has a character. Dirk Welcome, dear visitor!
