wparsonsgisnet Posted February 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently calibrated my M8 Li-ion batteries using the run-the-camera-down process to discharge the batteries before recharging them. Â I noticed last week that the image sequence number had been reset. I wonder if letting the battery run all the way down drains the internal backup and causes a sequence number reset. Â Since I move images into a "subject" file, having duplicate image numbers isn't all the big a deal, but if this is what happened then calibrating batteries will come with a pain. Advertisement Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Hi wparsonsgisnet, Take a look here Does a power down reset the image number sequence?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted February 11, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 11, 2007 I have run the m8 down with all 3 of my batteries, and a couple of time with one or two of them, and have not had the image count reset. How many images have you taken with it. I think after it gets to 9999 it starts a new folder on the card and start the numbering from 1 again. I looked in the manual and it really doesn't give a clear cut explaination for this. If you are opver the 9999 image mark then it will reset all by itself. graeme_clarke Posted February 11, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 11, 2007 Reminds me of the manufacturer's supreme optimism in the driver's handbook of a 1972 Volvo 145 I had - "the mileometer (odometer) reads to 999,999 and returns to 000,000 automatically". Useful information but I never got that far to check it out! Â Seriously though, I've had my DMR jump several thousand to start a new numnber sequence at L1010000 - it followed me running the battery flat in the camera and the new number sequence starting when a fresh one was put in. Moral - change the battery before its absolutely flat. Â Graeme
wparsonsgisnet Posted February 12, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted February 12, 2007 Having had the problem of reseting the counter in my M8 when discharging the battery (if I have the diagnosis correct), I am loath to use the M8 for battery calibration, again. Â I am thinking about using the charger to discharge the batteries. I wonder if the circuitry will allow this to happen. Merely inserting the battery does not wake anything up. Â Any suggestions from the monsters? Â tns,
