I'm new at using the M8. Having used Photo Mechanic for years to manage my NEF files, I'm at a loss on how to handle and manage DNG files. I can not even contemplate going back to JPGs after using NEFs for so long. What are you folks using for a file browser and how are you managing your M8 images? I can hardly wait for Photo Mechanic to update their software.

Jeffry:

If you shoot DNG + Jpeg, PhotoMechanic will keep the pair together and appear as a single thumbnail. You can do your regular sorting and other things in PhotoMechanic. When you want to edit a file, set the edit option to edit the RAW/DNG. Then when you select some files and hit CTRL-E to send to Photoshop, they will open in Adobe Camera Raw.

I set my M8 to make 2.5mp jpegs plus the DNG. The smaller jpegs are good enough to check for focus or in tagging for selection.
