robsteve Posted February 8, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 finally arrived today. It is a black one that came from a forum advertiser, Collectible Cameras. The first thing I did when it arrived was to shoot a couple test shots. The first being a shot of the sky, looking for dust and the next few with the Noctilux, checking focus accuracy. The camera is spot on in both the near and far distances. Â Here are a couple shots from this afternoon. The first of my wife talking to a friend that was over for a visit. The second is my son just home from school and having a snack before going out skating. Â This was shot with the Noctilux at f1.2 and 320iso. Â Â Here I am using a Elcan 90mm APO, which is actually identical to the current 90mm APO ASPH, but engraved a bit different. this was at f2 and 320iso. So glad you finally got this gem and can now really go have some fun with it. Â Love the shots also. The Nocti shot looks very good, and your tight focus on both is great. Bill W Posted February 8, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted February 8, 2007 There was no magenta shift on the shot of your wife? I guess her black clothing was not synthetic. My first wife shot with my 90 had noticeable shift. Glad you got yours I am truly enjoying mine.
robsteve Posted February 8, 2007 Author Share #11 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Here are a few more shots before the sun went down. Â This is the 90mm Elcan again, f2, 320iso. Â Â Test subject with a Leica grey card around his neck. I think this was the 24mm. I will use some of the ice and snow shots to fine tune my cyan drift correction. Â Â This is from a lunch time meeting I had. Dr Roy is a former Commodore of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and we happended to be meeting in the Commodore's room. this room has pictures of all the past commodores on the wall, including his picture. I used the 50mm Summicron wide open and 320ios. Â
stunsworth Posted February 8, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Bill, I think Robert very wisely stocked up in filters before his camera arrived.

robsteve Posted February 8, 2007 Author Share #15 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Nice pics indeed. With or w/o IR filter? Â Â I have had filters for all my lenses since the first week of December. I ordered them in November when Pascal and others found the IR problem.
robsteve Posted February 9, 2007 Author Share #16 Â Posted February 9, 2007 There was no magenta shift on the shot of your wife? I guess her black clothing was not synthetic. My first wife shot with my 90 had noticeable shift. Glad you got yours I am truly enjoying mine. Â Bill: Â Her clothing was all synthetic. That was with the Noctilux and a 486 UV-IR filter. The M8 works well when the lenses are fitted with filters.
robsteve Posted February 9, 2007 Author Share #17 Â Posted February 9, 2007 Here is another one from today. This was shot with the 24mm ASPH at f2.8 or f4. It still has a nice bokeh for a wide lens. The crop shows how sharp it is too. Â Â
