R.Costello Posted February 8, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) When the lens was delivered three days ago the lens hood was installed on it. Today I tried to remove the Hood. Intstructions say "To remove the lens hood, simply press two catches and pull off the hood the lens" [sic]. Well I have tried pressing the two tabs and pulled strait out off the lens and even tried twisting it while pulling and the thing just will not move. I am affraid to use any more pressure than I am using. Does anyone have any experience with this lens and this hood. Lens number: 11874 Called Leica NJ and they didn't have one on hand to look at and suggested I send it to them. I thought I would ask this forum to see if a owner might be able to enlighten me. Eoin Posted February 8, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 8, 2007 If it's the same hood as mine, there is a locking ring on the hood. I can't remember exactly but there is a red arrow on the locking ring pointing right when looking down on the lens with the rear element facing your chest. Turn the locking ring to the left and then squeeze the 2 tabs and pull the hood off. Â Re mounting is the reverse, turn the locking ring all the way to the left and squeeze the tabs, press the hood home on the lens and turn the locking ring to the right. The white mark on the locking ring should align with the black or perhaps white aperture dot (my lens is chrome hence black dot) on the lens. Â It's not the best design in the world
R.Costello Posted February 8, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 8, 2007 Eoin, Â Thank your very much for that tip. It worked perfectly. I wonder why Tech Support in Leica New Jersey, USA didn't know that? Problem solved. Â Richard
