I have to butt in and say that these are lagers not beer. If you want good beer then you need to try real ale brewed using malted barley and mixed with hops and then served as a living product from a barrel rather than a keg. A barrel is live beer. A keg is under pressure and is dead. The fizz you get in your glass is from Carbon Dioxide and this is not a traditional method.

Real ale uses natural ingredients and the difference can only be likened between Natural Yoghurt and commercial supermarket yoghurt ... or a photo taken with MF or AF.

Independent breweries have taken off in the US (the home of chemical beer), Italy, and France where they now make traditional ale. Demand is increasing for the real thing. Euro fizz (lager) is only an exercise for flushing one's kidneys and for people with limited taste.

Another little understood fact is that drinking cold drinks in warm weather is immediately refreshing on the palate but leads to an increased body temperature. Beer is meant to be drunk, like all drinks, at or just below room temperature. In 1976 I met a doctor from Queensland in Australia who said that the biggest problem he encountered was with stomachs of patients who drank frosted lager. The great thing about real ale is it is served at just below room temperature. Americans call it warm. It isn't warm ... it is natural.

It's all beer - Kölsch, Weissbier, Alt, Belgian Trappist beer, lager, real ale, the odd thing the English call bitter, Guiness, home brew, and even that stuff the French make and, heaven forbid, the flavourless concoction the US mass produces (not to be confused with the excellent micro brewery ales coming from places like Portland).

But, if you mean "good" beer, well each to their own.  I brew my own versions of Kölsch, Weitzen & Bookbinder - I don't really care what it is called.  I can't eat or drink anything live or "probiotic", so I'm pretty sure the yeast is dead by the time I drink my beer ...

Beer sommeliers advise to really test a beer, to try it tempered rather than cold.

I myself have not been drinking my beer from the fridge for a long time. I found this out for myself and didn't copy it from the English.

Except for the tea with milk, that's what I copied.  :)
