edtpm Posted February 7, 2007 Share #1  Posted February 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello,  I am considering to get a DSLR with a good lens, but I am not sure how much difference in picture quality @ISO 100 between D-Lux 3 and DSLR? Please provide your suggestion and give me some idea about this. Thanks.    Below pictures were taken by D-Lux 3. ============================ Resize picture to 1024x768  Original size of flower   Resize picture to 800x600  Original size of flower
DaveEP Posted February 7, 2007 Share #2  Posted February 7, 2007 It's not just the DSLR, but the lenses you use with it that will make the difference. A lot of DSLRs will "generally" have less noise. I have both the D-Lux3 and a DSLR (as well as the M8) but don't hestitate to use the D-Lux3 if that is the most convenient.  Now, the real question comes - how much difference will you be able to "see" on the media you normally show your shots on (Prints / Projection / Screen / Web)..... The D-Lux 3 makes some pretty nice prints. The noise that is present in the examples above would not normally be there on a 'good' DSLR with a 'good' lens. However, the ones you have already can be made nicer with just a little bit of love in photoshop. By using the blur tool you can eliminate most of the noise while enhancing the bokeh at the same time  Like this (hopefully you don't mind) - Original top right corner and then with the blur... Of course you can't do this with every single image
