Be advised diaphragm automation is lost which takes you back to 1950 something. Â I use them on Nikon D700 with Katz Eye split image screen. If you set up the screen correctly, focus is a breeze. You can work from open to 5.6 pretty easily. F8 & the split starts to black out. Leitax mount interchange or Fotodio,x both work well. Â Canon users must use the green confirmation dot. lct Posted August 3, 2011 Share #22 Â Posted August 3, 2011 ...Canon users must use the green confirmation dot. Yes can be useful but focus is generally more accurate with a good split image screen like Brightscreen. Same experience as yours with 5D1 and various adapters. Quite an inexpensive solution BTW and the IQ is very good up to 800 iso.

Example below is shot on APO Elmarit 180mm as jpeg on D700 with minimum PP. Very best Nikon lenses are excellent but some of them look myopic compared to best APO R lenses. Â In my experience (not best eyesight) manual focus works well on standard camera, there is built in focus confirmation that is linked to selectable focus point. Didn't try 3rd party Katz Eye which many say improves focusing further - see post from Toby Bilek above. Â I think IQ is good up to ISO 6400, opinion shared by many happy users of D3/D700 cameras, judge for yourself. Â Call me Luke | Flickr - Photo Sharing! lct Posted August 4, 2011 Share #24 Â Posted August 4, 2011 I have nothing against Nikon that i use a lot for my job but i don't like the idea of tinkering the mount of my R lenses as i have not lost all hope to use them on a Leica body soon or late. lct Posted August 4, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted August 4, 2011 Tell this to my Apo-Telyt 280. Sorry dear Leica-Nikonians but to me Leitax is a no no.
Jamie Roberts Posted August 4, 2011 Share #27  Posted August 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) So for Mladen, here are some "less-than-optimal" (and certainly less than optimized!) quick proofs from last week's wedding with the R19 on the M9.  So I didn't "focus" these except by using the distance readings on the lens. They're all taken at f2.8; ignore the EXIF--it's wrong  A couple of things to note:  the vignette is added--the R19 doesn't vignette very much at all the first and last are slightly cropped for an effective length of about 21-24mm; the middle one is almost the full 19mm coverage (just to show the coverage... I would certainly consider cropping out the unfortunately dour expression on the left) I was feeling terrible during this shoot: summer cold. I could still rely on the M9, and I'm happy to have the 19mm in the toobox  The last one is also a lot darker than I would like... one of the flashes didn't fire--that happens sometimes--but it's a nice moment and it will print fine... So it's the M9 at ISO 800 and pushed more than 2.5 in post in C1 (so ISO 5000, just about) I wouldn't have gotten any better from my D3, to be honest  No PS, just out of C1. Yes--those are magenta coloured spotlights on the walls Gotta love wedding lighting!  Welcome, dear visitor! mmradman Posted August 4, 2011 Share #28 Â Posted August 4, 2011 Jamie, Â Much appreciated, wonderful illustration what R lenses are capable of, even on Leica camera. R19 can work on M8/M9 but any R lens narrower than 28mm only works on DSLR or Mirrorless. My long R lenses look handsome on my MP but framing/focusing is hopeless. Â I have little confession to make; I got hooked on Leica when i picked up The Leica Programme brochure at local camera dealer, 07/2001 edition with nice image taken with R19V2 (page 50, image by Gunther Bersch). I had to wait till end of 2009 to pick up my first R lens.
