I bought two Sandisk cards on eBay that I discovered were counterfeit. They came in the appropriate packaging, with realistic looking labels and rescue software discs. The only reason I discovered the problem was an email I got from another eBay customer who'd bought a card from the same seller. I called Sandisk, described the cards, and was told they were fake. Â There are several websites describing this problem and explaining how to identify the fakes. According to Sandisk, the easiest way is that the real cards have a serial number printed on them, along with the statement "Made in China." One website I saw claimed that more than 90 percent of memory cards sold on eBay were fakes. Â I never used the cards, and having paid Paypal with my VISA card was able to get a refund.
