meino Posted August 6, 2011 Share #21 Posted August 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't hope that many Europeans bought this extended warranty. A statement from an HP site: Effective from 1st January 2002, the EU Directive to extend warranty on consumer products from 1- to 2- years, came into effect. This directive only impacts EU member state countries and will be phased in as the EU member states implement the directive. As of 1st January 2002 the following EU member states have implemented this EU Directive: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany The Netherlands, Norway, Italy and Sweden. regards Meino de Graaf
Advertisement Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Hi meino, Take a look here M9 Warranty Extension. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 6, 2011 Share #22 Posted August 6, 2011 Not very relevant, Meino. The guaranty was two years all the time.
AlanJW Posted August 6, 2011 Share #23 Posted August 6, 2011 IIRC, you can buy online in Germany but have to go through a dealer elsewhere.Somebody please correct me if I got this wrong. K-H. I am in the US. Applied on-line and got an email back asking for serial number (again) and credit card info, and eventually I received the paperwork in the mail. tappan Posted August 6, 2011 Share #26 Posted August 6, 2011 May I ask if anyone is suprised that Leica would not "work with me" on this since I did not know the upgrade was coming nor did I know that it would include an extended warranty with it. BEFORE i get killed by some in this forum, I am new to Leica and innocently did not know. Thanks for any help and consideration. Mark
hoppyman Posted August 7, 2011 Share #27 Posted August 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Reading the conditions I see that if the camera is sent for repair within this extended period the service includes functional checks and a CLA for the complete camera. Separately from purchasing this extension, that routine servicing includes one year's warranty on the complete camera too. If additional work is found to be necessary than that generates additional costs of course. That has long been the standard arrangement. Can anyone comment on the standard costs (ex-transport/insurance) for the functional checks/CLA? If you choose to pay for an upgrade to the M9-P then that servicing also includes the functional checks, CLA and new 12 months warranty.

However, in my experience Leica is quite customer-friendly. The only thing you can do is pick up the phone and talk with somebody at Leica who has decision-making authority and explain the situation.
