Greetings All,

For those looking at a 135 Tele-Elmar or the Apo 135 you might be interested - I was digging around my Leica drawer and found a very cool 135mm Leitz viewfinder. It has a distance parallax correction scale and an extremely bright viewfinder and frameline. I tested it on my M8 with a friends Tele-Elmar F4 and it worked like a charm. I use the Tele-Elmarit with goggles so I had not bothered to much about this - I just may now look at finding an Apo 135mm. I have not seen these on the 'bay'.

Cheers. Terry.

Pretty nice Terry but should we be looking for a 180 mm external. 135 x1.33=179

Yes, that is correct. I am planning to use a TEWE 35 - 200 zoom finder; not as nicely built as Leitz, but at this moment that is all there is (if one can find it). It has been discussed a few days ago, here are the links:

I am still decidig whether to use the 4/135mm Tele-Elmar with the TEWE finder or the 'bespectacled' 2.8/135 Elmarit. I have both - size and weight will probably decide.

All the best,

Jan

The answer to the queestion is *yes*.

The crop of M8 is 4/3! .. equal to 24 mm/18 mm and to 36 mm/27 mm.

.. and 135 mm * 4/3 = 180 mm

My one cent ;-)

Thank you all, I do understand the crop factor, I really do.

That said like many things about the M8 this is a compromise solution that works well (I tested it with a Tele-Elmar 135 F4) by using the viewfinder framelines and the outer edges - percise no! It is smaller and somewhat less obtrusive than the zoom style viewfinder that covers the full range, but each to their own devices. I do have a TEWE as well....

My additional two cents worth :)

Best to all. Terry
