Kirk M9 35 Summilux FLE PS: I haven't been posting for a while, because I've been taking pictures with vintage Rolleis. Advertisement Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Hi thompsonkirk, Take a look here I couldn't quite believe this:. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Timmyjoe Posted June 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2011 Kirk, Been seeing those posters almost from the moment the President was inaugurated. The weirdest group was one that had the "Hitler" poster and then signs that said Obama was a socialist. I asked them if they understood the relationship between Nazism and Socialism. They didn't seem to get it. Nice Rollei pics by the way. Were you using a 2.8?
stuny Posted June 13, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2011 Very nice, disturbing shot.
wilfredo Posted June 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2011 This is in such poor taste even if you are not an Obama fan. Do some people voluntarily give up the use of their thinking minds? Thanks for documenting it.
likalar Posted June 14, 2011 Share #5 Posted June 14, 2011 Kirk, tell me that's not San Francisco! Thanks for the Rollei link. Enjoying your film time, I see; nice to see your post here, as always. Larry
PauloSm6 Posted June 14, 2011 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2011 Poor taste indeed, nice capture however! Like your Rollei pics also, what B&W film are you using, color as well? Paulo
thompsonkirk Posted June 14, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted June 14, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for looking & commenting! To Tim: I've recently acquired a 2.8 but mostly use 3.5 because I don't see too well, & it's hard to focus a wide-open 2.8 taking lens with a 2.8 viewing lens. To Larry: I'm so sorry to say: it was the corner of Columbus & Green. To Paulo: They're all shot on Portra, mostly 160 but some 400. It converts nicely in Lightroom or PS using the new BW conversion color sliders. Almost as good as BW film, except that color negatives compress the highlights a bit & don't reach the full highlight extension of BW film. I should add: My Rolleis decided they only want to photograph things as old as they are, which makes for an interesting quest. K
daveleo Posted June 14, 2011 Share #8 Posted June 14, 2011 People are stupid and vicious, as always. Love your Rollei work, looks inspired. Some cameras do that for you. Nice work.
Ivan Muller Posted June 14, 2011 Share #9 Posted June 14, 2011 hi Kirk, nice image..... all these crazies make for interesting subject matter, don't they...?
Jamie Roberts Posted June 14, 2011 Share #10 Posted June 14, 2011 Kirk, really arresting, to an outsider like me, anyway! Unreal. I also like the look of your Rollei work--well done!
kidigital Posted June 14, 2011 Share #11 Posted June 14, 2011 Good post. I really like documentary type of images like this that lead to discussion. It seems like so much of the country has lost its sense of good manners and good taste as the rhetoric on both sides of aisle becomes even more polarizing with each election cycle. The upside, I guess, is that it should make for some really interesting photos during the next presidential election as the hyperbole gets ratcheted up another few notches.
