Advertisement Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hi rainer_p, Take a look here A couple. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jmr Posted July 14, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2006 Rainer, I find nothing wrong with having people pose for a picture, it seems to me to be an honest thing to do - not that I think "street photography" in any way dishonest. Good portrait.
ptomsu Posted July 14, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 14, 2006 Although they are posing it is looking very natural. For me part of street fotografy is to talk to people and then win their interest and agreement in taking their photo. This is actually much harder than just press the shutter without knowing people. rainer_p Posted July 14, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted July 14, 2006 ....thanks alot. it is true that I always try to spend some time with tha people, talk to them, listen to them and sometimes they become real friends. I also try to capture the good moment, when the "model" does not pose actually. Now I'm off, hoping to meet them at the feast this evening and give them one of the prints I made Greets

stuny Posted July 14, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 14, 2006 Rainer - Terrific subjects, fabulous tonal range and sharpness, and an engaging pose.
etanguero Posted July 14, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice shot. Only critics I'd dare to put up: I would have cropped out the (posing) couple so that the partially cut person to the right would not be on the photograph. eT
rainer_p Posted July 14, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted July 14, 2006 ....thanks for commenting. as for cropping the pic, I usually don't like to crop my photos and sometimes prefere assuming eventual failures ...... personal sight greets
telewatt Posted July 14, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 14, 2006 Hello Rainer! Yes, this is a picture!...asking the people, If they like to beeing "shot"....and it feels honest!....it is only a little bit to bright for me.. regards, Jan
djm Posted July 14, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 14, 2006 cropping is uncalled for. if you burn the edges a little it will help bring the attention towards them.
rainer_p Posted July 14, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted July 14, 2006 Hi Jan, thanks for commenting. djm, I already burned the edges quite hard under the enlarger. I agree that a few seconds more wont hurt
djm Posted July 14, 2006 Share #12 Posted July 14, 2006 i like his eyes, her hands, and both their hats.
JHAG Posted July 14, 2006 Share #13 Posted July 14, 2006 Nice picture, but may I ask you why the word SANTAL is mirrored…
rainer_p Posted July 15, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted July 15, 2006 Nice picture, but may I ask you why the word SANTAL is mirrored… ....because it is the reflexion of the shop name on the other side of the road. reflected in the window behind those two fellows as they sat in front of a store
mgcd Posted July 15, 2006 Share #15 Posted July 15, 2006 I feel this is a charming portrait with an "Old World" feel to it. In this case, I am referring more to tradition than geography. It feels honest and straight forward and allows us to connect directly with the subjects. Certainly successful in my book.
Guest menze_as Posted July 15, 2006 Share #16 Posted July 15, 2006 He is great - his look is that of a daguerrotypie-photographed man in 19th century
christoph_d Posted July 15, 2006 Share #17 Posted July 15, 2006 Hi Rainer, I really like it. I think that the ¨posing¨ is not at all disturbing, on the contrary, the couple has obviously contact AND trust in the photorapher. Through their expressions and dress, including the doubling of the hats, they seem to belong together, even though the background is a bit cluttered. Very nice also her gesture of holding his arm. His face seems a bit more in focus than anything else, so his expression becomes the center of attention. I look forward to some more medival stuff from you. Rgds, C. tomparis Posted July 15, 2006 Share #18 Posted July 15, 2006 Salut Rainer, the posing is very natural and honest, and that is quite hard to achieve. Bravo! The print seems a little low in contrast, but I guess it's the scan (the black border looks grey). Thomas
man:men Posted July 15, 2006 Share #19 Posted July 15, 2006 a fine picture!! For me the space to the right is more important than the lady disturbs, who sits beside the two. greetings manfred
christoph_d Posted July 15, 2006 Share #20 Posted July 15, 2006 Rainer, Another thought. Compared to the picture of the ¨off-sided musician¨ you recently showed here, one can clearly appreciate the different lighting conditions and how this affects the mood, contrast and shades. In my view for the above picture you had much better lighting conditions. Regards, C.
