....there is this medival festival going on here. ppl walk streets dressed up in nice costumes. photogs of all sorts in the place aswell. some with lenses long as my arm shooting portraits, well hidden in some corner.

I prefered lookin for intresting caracters in the crowd and came across this cool couple. k, it's posed but I loved the expression of the man.....

Rainer,

I find nothing wrong with having people pose for a picture, it seems to me to be an honest thing to do - not that I think "street photography" in any way dishonest.

Good portrait.

Although they are posing it is looking very natural.

For me part of street fotografy is to talk to people and then win their interest and agreement in taking their photo. This is actually much harder than just press the shutter without knowing people.

....thanks alot. it is true that I always try to spend some time with tha people, talk to them, listen to them and sometimes they become real friends.

I also try to capture the good moment, when the "model" does not pose actually.

Now I'm off, hoping to meet them at the feast this evening and give them one of the prints I made :)

Nice picture, but may I ask you why the word SANTAL is mirrored…

....because it is the reflexion of the shop name on the other side of the road. reflected in the window behind those two fellows as they sat in front of a store :)

I feel this is a charming portrait with an "Old World" feel to it. In this case, I am referring more to tradition than geography. It feels honest and straight forward and allows us to connect directly with the subjects. Certainly successful in my book.

Hi Rainer,

I really like it. I think that the ¨posing¨ is not at all disturbing, on the contrary, the couple has obviously contact AND trust in the photorapher. Through their expressions and dress, including the doubling of the hats, they seem to belong together, even though the background is a bit cluttered. Very nice also her gesture of holding his arm. His face seems a bit more in focus than anything else, so his expression becomes the center of attention. I look forward to some more medival stuff from you.

Rainer,

Another thought. Compared to the picture of the ¨off-sided musician¨ you recently showed here, one can clearly appreciate the different lighting conditions and how this affects the mood, contrast and shades. In my view for the above picture you had much better lighting conditions.

Regards, C.
