Hello,

I have my pocketwizard TT1/TT5 from my canon setup and i am able to use them with the 580EXII on top of it in Manual mode.

However everytime I turn the tt's on I am having difficulties for having both tt1/tt5 paired.

Yes there are all in the same std channel and the tt1 is in basic trigger but in order to have the pairing done, I need everytime to press 1-3 times the test button on the tt5

(i am not using the learning function). and then it;s working totally fine

Anyone experienced simalar case ? It is normal to have to press that test several time !

Thanks

Vadim

Sounds like you might be experiencing interference from the 580 EXII, it's well known to be very noisy so at any distance you'll get misfires and it even not triggering. Your best bet is to use a 430EX II which is far less noisy, that's what I ended up doing.

I do still seem to have to press the test button every now and then to 'wake up' the flash but it's much better now.

If you don't think it's the flash, maybe try without any flash on top of the TT5 and press your shutter button, see if the green light on the back of the TT5 flashes every time. If it does then the signal is ok, if it doesn't you may have to send the TT1 and TT5 for calibration/replacement?

Thanks a lot. I found it. you just need to set the receiver in basic trigger mode as well.

I think that in regular mode with having the controlTL+Regular Channel to receive and send on the TT5 + using the 580EXII with the interference creates the pb

now both tt1/tt5 in basic triggering it just works perfectly !
