Washington Posted June 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went over to my friends place with the great view where I test long lenses. I had trouble with the mounting of the 560mm Telyt rig on Sunday because the mounting was just too sloppy on the tripod… so, I worked on it and it’s much better now. Anyway, up here in the high Rockies the air is full of smoke from the huge fire in Arizona…. these picture are just meant to show this.
Advertisement Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hi Washington, Take a look here Where there is smoke, there is…... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted June 7, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2011 Rip, The first two shots certainly demonstrate the air quality. What a shame for all the destruction the fires are making. Paul
Washington Posted June 7, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted June 7, 2011 I just learned today that there is a big fire near here which is contributing to the Arizona smoke. Sad indeed.
k-hawinkler Posted June 7, 2011 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2011 Rip, Same here. Tremendous amounts of smoke giving the Sun a red/orange glow. Also, one can smell the fire pretty well, as if it were over the next hill. They say some 330,000 acres burned so far in Arizona. That's quite a bit. The biggest fire we had here, in and around town, in recent years was about 48,000 acres IIRC. Best, K-H.
Washington Posted June 7, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted June 7, 2011 I’m not surprised as you are so much closer. We get some bad ones around here usually during tourist season when the usual subjects do something stupid….. but nothing, to date, like what’s on fire down there. Last year there were many…. one just behind Lumpy Ridge where the Stanley and Twin Owls are. There are so many thousands of dead trees up here due to the pine-beetle infestation that the whole area is a tinder box. And with dead dry pine needles all over the place a fire can start and spread like, well, wildfire!
