RichardM8 Posted June 6, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted June 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just took my beloved M8.2 to my dealer to be serviced and adjusted in Solms. Â The alignment of the superimposed images in the focus patch is slightly off. This was already the case when I bought it S/H some 7 months ago but I just couldn't bring myself to let it go again for adjustment. It didn't affect the focusing at all but once you see it, it keeps bugging you... Â I also asked if they can have a look a some annoying '999 glitch' it has. Every now and them the small display on top shows 999 (the card can only hold 734 images) and the camera basically stops working poperly. No info in the VF anymore besides a red dot. Powering off & on works sometimes but not always. When it locks up completely I have to remove the battery to get the camera going again (it always does). Â I've tried using a different SD card and re-installed the firmware. Also bought a second new battery, no change. Happens with a fully charged or half drained battery alike. Weird huh?... Â I will keep you all posted. Aaarrgghh... I miss it already!!

Hi Andy In this case it is. It happens when the camera is in A mode and also when in manual. I never use it in S mode. Last week is was shooting a castle in France. The camera worked flawless for 2 hours of shooting in a row in A mode. All of a sudden, while nothing changed, 999 in the display and it was frozen solid. I had to take out the battery to get it going again. After that it worked flawless again. All of this happening in A mode. It don't think this should be happening...  Let see what the guru's in Solms find out...
RichardM8 Posted July 23, 2011 Author Share #4 Â Posted July 23, 2011 I got my M8 back from Solms yesterday. Finally! Took a staggering 6 weeks! Â But... I must admit, the camera looks and feels brand new. Â The papers say they adjusted the rangefinder (that was the reason to send it to Leica) but they've also adjusted the sensor (duh?... what's that?) and checked, lubed and adjusted everything else. Â The 2 'pre shoot positions' of the shutter release are clear again and everything just works smooth and silky again. Oh and the new firmware is on of course. Â A good - but lengthy - job! Holybasil Posted July 23, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted July 23, 2011 Yeah, Leica aren't the fastest on service, but they are certainly the best.
jaapv Posted July 23, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted July 23, 2011 Leica will calibrate the sensor-mount distance prior to adjusting focus.

RichardM8 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Share #9 Â Posted July 27, 2011 Richard, how much did it cost? Â Nothing as this adjustment was due when I bought the camera from my dealer some 6 months ago. We agreed that we would get this done when I could miss the camera for a while. Â The papers from Leica that came back with the camera mentioned this service work would normally cost 320 euro.
