HiltonJoy Posted June 5, 2011 Share #1  Posted June 5, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just did some testing to determine the accuracy of the camera clock. I mess about with geotagging and this can be quite critical. Cameras generally are not so good. "Ongoing test"  Having set the time function to coincide with my ISP system time, I pressed "set" on the even minute. I then took a series of shots of the System Preferences Panel displaying the time. :00 :15 :30 :45 :00 again. Looking at the EXIF data both times were identical. (Computer and X-1)  Leads me to to conclude that the so called shutter lag is a non issue.  Cheers  "It's a keeper"

abrewer Posted June 5, 2011 Share #2  Posted June 5, 2011 Cool concept and interesting results  How do you know the image reflects the exact time your index presses the shutter button?
HiltonJoy Posted June 5, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted June 5, 2011 Good point. I just watched the computer clock and pressed the shutter ( already focused ) when it reached the times indicated. Realistically it could have been +/- 1 sec but with 5 tries I achieved a consistent result as shown by the EXIF data. Just for interest an error of 1 sec is around 400 meters. Easy enough to correct for with the software when you "know" the offset. The reason for the OP was to say how pleased I was with the shutter response. I think the so-called shutter lag issue is really a "focus lag" issue and like many cameras can be managed with either prefocus or manual focus. Using either technique, I find no real shutter lag issue   tom
