wlaidlaw Posted June 4, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted June 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Having read various threads on various forums, folks had suggested that a #412 or BR122 battery was the correct 22.5V battery for my CEYOO. Having recently acquired a huge box of assorted bulbs (mainly #5 and Press 25 but a few FP26's) I was keen to get flashing (no - not THAT way). I bought a pair of new 412 batteries and fitted one in my newly acquired Rolleiflash, only to find it had a Bay#I arm on it and I needed a Bay#II for my Rolleiflex 3.5E Planar, with f2.8 Heidosmat viewing lens. Â I then went on to try and get the CEYOO to work. I knew that the capacitor was dead, so I have replaced that. I then went to fit in the new 412 battery and found it is slightly too fat and too square shouldered to slide down the tube. The problem is that certain sites give the dimensions of a BR122 as 50 x 26 x 12mm, which would fit I think and others give it as 50 x 26 x 16mm, which is identical to the #412 and I know, does not fit. Another suggestion is a #505 battery, which is 50mm x 16mm (slightly squared off tubular). Has anyone actually fitted a new battery in a CEYOO recently and if so what? I don't have the multiple AAA battery carrier. My manual is no help, just saying a replacement 22.5V battery is available from your Leica dealer. wlaidlaw Posted June 4, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted June 4, 2011 JC, Â Thanks for that. Various sites list the #72 as being equivalent to a PX72 or 412. The dimensions of the modern versions of these, at 50 x 26 x 16mm, are just enough bigger to prevent them fitting. I think I will buy a #505 and see if I can get that to fit, perhaps with a bit of polystyrene packing to hold it central. Â Wilson
giordano Posted June 5, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted June 5, 2011 23A (L1028) 12V batteries are cheap and widely available, and there'd be room for two in series if you can rig up a holder - which could be made with a pair of N size battery holders and some sticky back plastic. Â John, Â Thanks for the suggestion. I very nearly got my 412 into the CEYOO yesterday. With a bit of persuasion it went 99% of the way in but did not make proper contact. I then had to take the bottom off the CEYOO to get the battery and Paxolin holder out, as it was jammed. I am going to buy one of the BLR122 batteries below. At only 12mm deep against the 16.2mm of my version of the 412 (a cheap looking Chinese carbon one, made I suspect, not to exacting dimensional standards), it should fit in easily and may actually have to have some packing added to keep it in proper contact.
