K-H -

Lovely and it's luring me back. Perhaps we should meet for dinner at Santa Cafe.

Stuart,

Splendid. Please, let me know when you and Barbara are in Santa Fe.

I am looking forward to meeting you.

You certainly know how to pick a restaurant in town.

I like that. It's also just a short stroll from the Plaza.

I'll meet you both...let's make it Pasquals.

Virgil,

Many thanks. Fine with me.

I am looking forward to meeting you as well.

Cafe Pasqual's ain't a bad place either.

But so different from Stuart's suggestion.

I guess this reflects the diversity of opinions of Leica users for about anything.

Ah, Santa Fe, the city different!

I read somewhere that Santa Fe is the third largest art market in the country,

after NY and LA. Wouldn't amaze me, if true, with all the galleries around.

K-H,

Wonderful angle! I have been wanting to visit Santa Fe...

Tri:)

Hi Tri,

Thanks. You should visit.

Very interesting area, culturally and scenic wise.

Native American, Hispanic, Anglo ... jewelry, sculptures, paintings, ... you name it.

Museums, Art Galleries, and in the summer months only the usually outstanding Santa Fe opera performances in a unique building.

Of course, there is also the New Mexican cuisine, quite different from the Mexican.

The standard question being asked: Red or green? Meaning, what kind of Chili do you want with your meal.

Here you see the red kind hanging from the roof of the Rancho de Chimayo Rancho de Chimayo History, about an hour north of Santa Fe.

K-H - This is what we placed on our site about Santa Fe on our first of many visits to it. and by the way, the art galleries and museums are world-class:

"We sampled some excellent restaurants during our visits. We felt that the highly lauded Coyote Café was seriously overrated, but that Santacafe lived up to its reputation (and it was still just as wonderful on every subsequent visit). We were enjoying tasty sandwiches outdoors at Celebrations on Canyon Road when a squall blew in, causing diners to grab their plates and rush inside. Stu nonchalantly popped open an umbrella and we continued eating, much to the amusement of the staff, patrons and passersby. A few minutes later the sun returned along with our grinning fellow consumers. We wish we could recall the name of an outstanding Mexican restaurant that we tried - it was much better than some of the more popular tourist places, like the Shed. On our last trip we discovered the exceptional Geronimo, which we will definitely revisit when we return to Santa Fe."

K-H,I'm a semi-regular.

Santa Cafe is at the top of my list...but so is Geronimo, Coyote Cafe, Compound, Pink Adobe...ahhhh, so many fine restaurants in my favorite town.

I'm glad Rancho de Chimayo re-opened after their fire...such an exquisite setting.

I never leave town without a meal at Maria's though:)

Here's a suggestion if you haven't tried it...Rancho de San Juan near Ojo Caliente...most exquisite...worth the short drive;)

Stuart,

That's pretty funny - but creative.

It reminds me of an Electra performance in the Santa Fe Opera at a time when part of the middle section of the building didn't have a roof by design.

Anyway, there was quite a downpour and the performance started late. It moved nicely along and when the killings hit a peak in the opera,

the thunder shower was back in full force with tremendous lightning and thunder and rain, right above the opera building.

It certainly was a heavenly performance.:D:)

Virgil,

Thanks. You seem to know the area better than I do.

I haven't been to Rancho de San Juan near Ojo Caliente yet - although we drive by there on our way to Colorado.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Best, K-H.
