pico Posted June 2, 2011 Share #1  Posted June 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cleaning Black Border on Print  I had a beautiful print floated on a 16"x20" print (Epson ink jet). Somehow during the handling at home, some dust became embedded into part of the black background border.  It does not wipe off. Back in the silver print days there were coatings or polishes that could be added to semi-gloss paper (archival destructive, too).  Any suggestions from our Net Wisdom on how I might remove this material? Shootist Posted June 2, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted June 2, 2011 If these particles are embedded into the black ink I don't think there is any way to clean them off without removing some of the ink. Â I personally don't use any colored boarder on my prints, leaving whatever boarder there may be the white of the paper and then mat them with desired color boarder before framing. Â 2 reasons. Waist of ink and the problem you have.

They charge the same for a border or white. $27 USD for a 16x20 done within an hour.  A mat will do the job. Thanks for the suggestion!
Shootist Posted June 2, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted June 2, 2011 Well you didn't say you were having it printed. I thought you were printing it yourself, as I do.
pico Posted June 3, 2011 Author Share #5 Â Posted June 3, 2011 Well you didn't say you were having it printed. I thought you were printing it yourself, as I do. Â I wrote that it was done on a commercial Epson printer within an hour. Read up. What you do is beyond my financial resources, unless you can best their charges, including shippingl
