Thank you Azzo, and Stuart.

I was standing on the observation deck of the Busch Garages at Daytona International Speedway, directly above the garage bay where Helio's car was being dropped off after his minor accident on the track.

Thanks.

Nice stuff again Allan. What is happening to the reds outside the shadows, like the spot on the front deck?

You noticed too!

For some reason the Kodak film has trouble handling reds/oranges...at least in my hands.

In order to get the red/bright orange color of the car correct I adjusted the red color channel a bit...but that turned the red of the men's shoulders maroon, which they really aren't.

So I'm blaming Kodak...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

:)

Thanks.

Allan,

Next time you go off to Florida on one of these gigs why take me along, I'll carry your bags and I know how to keep out of the way at these venues (I only got run over once in 35 years!) :D

Great series.

Cheers,

Pete.

What're you doing the weekend of 24-25 March Pete???

:D

Thanks.

Ahhhh...yes, the lovely British light.

I still have the same lab, BTW...

Are you staying warm there in NJ William?

Colder than the devil out here, with snow tomorrow.

Damn, I wish I'd stayed in Florida!

:D

Thanks.

Say, William, just by way of comparison...do you have any shots on 100UC of anything bright red?

I'd really be interested to see how it looks from your lab.

Oh, also...I picked up some of that Fuji 160S print film while I was down there and shot a couple of rolls that I got back on Sunday. I've been too busy with SuperBowl activities to post any of it yet.

Thanks.

Some red here but flatter light. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/sports-leisure-time/2951-matchless-trike.html?highlight=trikes I'll see if I can think of anything else.

Found something. Check your mail.

You might want to try some Portra 160 NC in light like this too.

- 15 C here, but no snow forecast... UGH!

Yup. I was afraid of that. The red in both your photos is exactly the same as on the Penske car...only my lab couldn't get it right.

Sigh...

I haven't yet found a lab here in town with the Kodak processor we've talked about before.

Maybe I should forward all my rolls to you and you could...

LOL!

I wonder how long that would last?

:D

Thanks.

You sure get close to the action. In the UK you are lucky to get within 50 feet of any car or any driver - unless you have a pit pass and they don't give those away unless you are a 'celebrity'.

Hi Tony.

F1 is very, very fan-photographer unfriendly (in my experience). Especially so in Europe. At least in the US fans get a "Pit Walk-About" day on Thursday before the USGP and can get a little closer.

The American racing series are really very good about access. You can get up close like this during practice pretty easily if you talk to the right people and keep your nose clean. I think NASCAR even sells pit access passes to some of its races for practice sessions--just go online and buy a ticket to get close to the action.

Maybe Ray Harms will join in here...I think he's photographed at the Phoenix NASCAR race by purchasing a pass.

Thanks.
