Guytou Posted May 31, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 31, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, Â I perhaps will buy D2 in very good condition. The compatibility of this apparatus seems s' to stop with Windows XP. Â On my PC I have Windows 7 and Lightroom 3.1 that I use to develop the RAW of my D-Lux 5. Â Will I also be able to use D2 with Windows 7 and Lightroom 3.4 ? Â Thank you for your answer. Â Guytou

Guytou Posted May 31, 2011 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 31, 2011 Thank you for the answer. Â But I am not certain about it because I did not find update Windows XP towards Windows 7 64 bits for the Digilux 2 on the official site Leica. jippiejee Posted May 31, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted May 31, 2011 But if your version of Lightroom works under W7 64-bits, why wouldn't it read the digilux-2 sd card?
Guytou Posted May 31, 2011 Author Share #5  Posted May 31, 2011 Yes, it is true! Finally that does not depend on the apparatus but simply on reading of chart SD. I read besides that Lightroom dealt with the RAW of D2.  But I wonder now if I will find a great difference between quality of image of D2 and that in my D-Lux 5 with which I am very satisfied…  Thank you, Guytou
jippiejee Posted May 31, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted May 31, 2011 I've never been good at pixel peeping... and I just shot a picture with the dlux5 and the Digilux2 trying to say anything sensible about it, but I can't. It's hard to tell the difference really. My joy of the D2 is especially in its handling. I love how aperture is a ring on the lens, how exposure is a manual dial on top... etc. It's just such a pleasant camera to take into town a shoot your daily dose with. But I honestly can't testify here that it's better than the dlux5. Different pleasures, both pretty good images.
exit Posted June 1, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted June 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) jippiejee, Â You have this right. Not sure the others in these recent posts do. Anyone who wants to make the Digilux 2 into the latest menu driven feature laden whiz bang pixel monster will be truly disappointed. This camera is about a superlative lens mated to a willing sensor requiring an external brain who is willing to drive it in manual down a beautiful mountain road in the sweet light of ISO 100 shifting gears between f2 to f8 and that is where you need to keep this machine from what I can tell to make it sing. If you want something more buy a different sports car as the camera lots are full of 'em.
wda Posted June 1, 2011 Share #8  Posted June 1, 2011 Hello,....Will I also be able to use D2 with Windows 7 and Lightroom 3.4 ?  Thank you for your answer.  Guytou  Welcome to D2 ownership, Guytou! The answer to your question is YES. I use that combination regularly.
dpitt Posted June 1, 2011 Share #9 Â Posted June 1, 2011 I think the compatiblity applies only to the software provided on the CD that came with it.That is not a big deal. There is nothing to install if you have a modern version of Lightroom or Aperture. Â Â Use a card reader and all your files DNG and JPG will be readable. All camera cards use the same format, so can be read as long as the system will recognize an SD card. I think these cards will be readable by any Windows or Mac system for at least 10 years if not longer....
Guytou Posted June 1, 2011 Author Share #10  Posted June 1, 2011 Welcome to D2 ownership, Guytou! The answer to your question is YES. I use that combination regularly.   Thank you for your councils, but the D2 that I wanted to buy was sold. There remains to me however my superb DLux 5…  Guytou
