jimcollum Posted May 30, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted May 30, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Going thru a friend's odds and ends that he was got in an estate, I found an older 35 preasp lux that looks complete. .just in parts. Since I shoot Leica, and he doesn't.. he gave me the parts to see if I could use them. Â I already have one 35 lux, but it appears to be an earlier version. Â Are there any guides/parts breakdowns/repair manuals for this (any) leica lens? there are only 4 bits , but i'd rather know how to put them together than try to force anything. Â any resources out there? Â thanks!!

lincoln_m Posted May 31, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 31, 2011 My guess from the last pic would be bottom right ring screws into top left Lens part then focus adjust (bottom left) slips over the assembly from the bottom with the top right bayonet fixing connecting to the lens last. The hard part will be cleaning and lubricating the threads etc. Looks quite easy / fun. Once assembled make some test shots at correctly measured distances from a subject @ f1.4. Say a jar/vase/camera with a ruler for depth of focus by the side. Takes shots a 0.7, 1,2,3,5, &10m if your room is big enough. There are books on camera assembly but I've not seen anything on lenses, though I've not looked hard. Â I remember I accidentally turned one of the rings on my 50 cron too much and it wanted to come apart, but I didn't. Â There might be other parts missing, shims, cir-clips ? Â Good luck, nice find if you can get it working. Don't tell your friend how much they usually go for, although I've not seen one for sale in parts before. JeTexas Posted June 1, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted June 1, 2011 I would guess the focus ring goes onto the lens, then that small ring screws in and the mounting ring screws onto the small ring. Â As long as the aperture blades are still there and still work, I think it should be fine.
tuanvo1982 Posted June 5, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted June 5, 2011 I did assemble my 35mm 2.0. It is not a easy thing or rush job. Â Anyway, you should not touch on aperture blades. In the rear of the lens, you can see a very small flat screw on tube then just need to take that one out then you can take the rear glass elements. Â For front elements, I guess you need take the front ring out first. Â In this point, even you haven't touch on optical element but I believe that is is not easy to assemble. You will have to try few times before make it focus correctly. I suggest you should use a pen to mark every single point
