vish Posted May 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I knew it was too good to be true, the M9 has been semi-permanently attached to me since I got it back, and this morning I note that one of the LED segments in the viewfinder shutter read-out has died. And nothing happens when I give it a quick smack on the side. This thing is a little homesick, wanted to pay a quick visit before its passport expired. All things considered, and despite my previous complaints, its settled down and seems to be lasting much longer on the battery now - are electronics allowed to do that? Advertisement Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Hi vish, Take a look here M9 does not respond to percussive maintenance. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ChristopherGrant Posted May 25, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2011 Good morning, This same problem occurred with my own M9 (amongst many other issues). Unfortunately I found no solution I could do on my own and had to send it in. It's worth noting that as one of the led lights didn't stop me from shooting, I kept the camera for a bit longer before sending it in when other problems arose. As your passport is about to expire of course you may not have that option, but I'd consider holding off as long as possible as you can still use the camera. I detail this issue including others here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/180715-regret-purchase-m9-after-2nd-service.html Careful though, it's a long thread and gets off topic quite a few times. Luck!
