Leica m3 Black Paint - 1962

Recommended Posts

Been offered a Leica M3 Black paint - 1962 - Clean but not perfect ( B+)

Is this a good deal @ £7k

Any advice?

Looks VERY expensive if not mint!

Yep

It's from a batch of 150, checked the serial number out with Camera Quest.

Thanks

The issue is THE SELLER : do you know him ? All the fakes of very rare items bear a "correct" s/n... for items like Black M3, 250, Luxus, IIId... is well worth a well-done job about.

Guest Ron (Netherlands)

nr. 1059898 and nr. 1078651 have been sold on a Stockholm auction not long ago for Eur 4322 and Eur 4117 (the winners had to add 20% auction costs).

I had three black M3 in my Fontenelle Collection, all checked and confirmed genuine by Leitz : Nº 911382, 917901 and 1045116. Interesting to note : both earliest ones had the curious black (instead of silver) counter dial (see my thread "Fontenelle archives 15").
