Hi all -

As promised, I'm posting a couple of pix I shot post Christmas while shooting a small feature film for New Line. I had three lenses with me (90mm f2.0, 35mm f1.4, CV15).

Also with me was my D200, and my Canon A630. My set work was done mostly with my D200.

I only really had a couple of walk around days with my M8 (we were shooting 6 days a week). Though those days were indeed blissful. Now that I am back doing the post production on the show, my M8 will be my constant companion.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I really enjoy using the CV15. It's a pure pleasure. I had one for my M6, but I sold it. I actually thought it was too wide for me. I re-bought the lens for my M8. It works like a charm. That being said, I can't wait for the WATE.

The pix I attached were all shot with M8. The first three were shot with the 35 Lux. The Exterior Church was shot with the CV15.

I'm thinking about getting the Zeiss 25mm and the Zeiss 50 f1.5. What do you guys think?

I have both the Zeiss 25 and the Zeiss 35. Both are extremely fine lenses which challenge the Leica's in terms of image quality. However I would be very careful because if Leica does not develop a menu item to allow you to choose your lens manually then frame lines will be incorrect and you will have no vignetting or cyan drift corrections. Given that we have to use the IR Cut filters the cyan drift problem will definitely be a factor with the 25 and I suspect the 50 as well.

I think you can find M lenses for sale on ebay that usually are about 1/2 the retail price. I would personally take that route before getting any Zeiss lenses or at least wait until the dust settles on the manual lens set feature.

Ariel,

The ZM 25mm Biogon is one of my favorite lenses (also bought the Zeiss 25/28 viewfinder.)

Then the M8 shouldered its way into our lives...

I lothe the idea of having to resort to handcoding the Biogon! And then there's the problem of it invoking the more useful 24mm frame on the M8 (it don't.) I can solve the latter problem by sending the lens to Zeiss in Germany where, for 40 Euros they'll change the mount to their 35mm mount which, in turn, also carries with it the more desirable 24mm frame in the M8. (I also shoot with film but really don't care what frame this lens invokes 'cause, with a film body, I always use the finder.)

I'll probably just leave this vexxing dilemma alone for a few months and see how I feel before the Leica 30% discount offer expires in late June.

I'd absolutely keep the Biogon if someone figured out a legal way to professionally 6-bit code ZM lenses for a reasonable fee. It is a terriffic lens; if you can leave with its attendant dual hassle when used on the M8, go for it.
