Washington Posted May 15, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Before I go willy-nilly into polishing out my scratch on the M-9 face I am practicing with the tiny Micro Mesh abrasive sticks Steve suggested I try. These suckers are better than sliced bread and I am so grateful to know about them…. little assortments with grit from 100 to 12000! So I am practicing on the logo disk which was really messed up from having to use sharp objects to get that thing off. Apparently some are held much tighter than others. Anyway, the purchased disc is on top… and the one I and restoring is lightly glued to the aluminum bar-stock (for holding purposes) on the bottom. I have not high polished the raised logo yet and I am thinking about possibly painting it some subtile color. Thanks again Steve! Welcome, dear visitor! 250swb Posted May 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 15, 2011 A pleasure passing on the info Washington, glad it works. The larger sheets of Micro Mesh are good as well, you can cut them down to the size you need or make small implements of your own to get into tricky spots. Washington Posted May 15, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 15, 2011 Yes, that’s a good idea too. Much, much better than superfine paper which folds and crinkles. It it such fun for me to try something new that REALLY works! Thanks again!!!
Dannybuoy Posted May 15, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2011 Nothing like a good bit of DIY I say! Did my own black dot last week. It's still holding out well. Satisfying to get good results huh!
tdtaylor Posted May 17, 2011 Share #5 Posted May 17, 2011 Beginning to think we need a DIY catagory Paint your dots, polish your shutter assembly, and the ultimate task of Mark disassembling (and hopefully reassembling) a camera. And I know Washington can push the envelope .
