barcoder Posted May 1, 2011 Share #1  Posted May 1, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Stolen Camera Finder - find your photos, find your camera  Every photo you take with your digital camera contains hidden information about both the image and the camera such as the make, model and date. This information, called exif data, can also include a unique serial number which identifies your camera.stolencamerafinder crawls the internet searching for photos, collecting the serial numbers of the cameras that took them. When you use the drag & drop feature, stolencamerafinder reads the unique serial number from the exif data of your photo and uses it to match against serial numbers it has stored.  It looks like most (all?) of Leica digital cameras are supported. kdriceman Posted May 8, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted May 8, 2011 Thanks. I have been searching Picasa metadata for my stolen 7d (thankfully my M9 wasn't in the car when they busted my window to get the 7d). Maybe I will have better luck with this.

ho_co Posted May 8, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted May 8, 2011 Thanks for the note, Chill! You're a little behind the first mention of the site (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/179923-stolen-camera-finder.html), but we can all use a reminder from time to time!
