vk2109 Posted April 29, 2011 Share #1  Posted April 29, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have a M9 + 50lux and I was wondering if it's a very useful accessory or not ?  Does it really help improve focusing ? any drawback ?  My next lens will be a 90/2.8 (found in Europe) and maybe then  a magnifier is helpful then ?  Thanks for your inputs / feedback  Vadim

Jose_Salcedo Posted April 29, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted April 29, 2011 Vadim, I keep the 1.25x magnifier on at all times, and it is most useful with lenses 50mm and beyond. Curiously, I do not like the 1.4x magnifier very much and never use it.
Dabow Posted April 29, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted April 29, 2011 Ditto. I also keep my 1.25x on at all times, even when using my 35mm lux, with which it's still just about manageable. It does help with the focusing, though I don't believe to a great extent.
thighslapper Posted April 29, 2011 Share #5 Â Posted April 29, 2011 I have a Leica 1.4, 1.25 .... and a Japan Exposures 1.15 and 1.35..... all have their pros and cons..... but the one that lives on my M9 is the JE 1.15 which gives just enough extra magnification to make focussing much easier, has a built in diopter adjustment, and can still just allow you to see all the M9 framelines.... @bumac Posted April 29, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted April 29, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use it for the Nokton 1.1/50 and the 75 lens and it helps a lot.

Dabow Posted April 29, 2011 Share #9  Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks ...what are usually the drawback of using a 1.25 with 50lux for example ? Thanks Vadim   No drawbacks. Just a slight improvement. I bought mine for use primarily with my Noctilux. It does help a bit, but focus is so fine at the wide end that it'll always be hit and miss to a certain extent. It's really just a matter of trying to get the percentage of misses down.
