leicapfile Posted February 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Learned from the Forum that Nikons SC-17 cord can be used for off camera flash, so I got a used one and it works perfectly using a 54MZ-3. Gives rise to a question though. Can I use that combination AND the D2s in camera flash at the same time? Obviously don't want to 'fry' anything near and dear to me. So being a coward thought I'd ask first of someone who may have tried it. Couldn't find the subject covered in the D2 manual. Thanks in advance, Jerry

rebride Posted February 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2007 Dear Jerome, A table with triger voltages used to be placed on http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobevolts...etc, please check around. You should check the strobe voltage of your flash there, but it seems that you are on the safe side. I used successfully my old Olympus T32 with D2. Have a nice day, Dejan p.s. I tried to upload the zipped file with the grid, but the server rejected it.

Sliding anything into the hot shoe will disable the internal flash (this inlcudes someyhing like an external finder or a spirit level). The only way to use both is via a slave trigger on the Metz. You'll need one that ignores the pre flash. Wein has a gizmo that works this way (I have one, works great) - connect it to the flash's hot shoe. You'¨ll have to use the Metz in 'A' mode, but that should still give you good results. Actually I use my Metz and SF24D in 'A' mode even when sitting on the D2. Letting the flash think for it self gives me better results and you loose the delay the pre-flash introduces. As for trigger voltages the modern Metz flashes are all OK and the SC-17 is purly a mechanical thing so it dosen't affect the voltages. I've been using one on my D2 for 3 years now no problems.
