Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Took less than a week to get to me and WOW. The leather this guy uses is to die for . Well maybe a cow did but a really really nice strap , not cheap though 74.00 total. Need to get him going on a hand grip for the M8. Need someone to make the hardware and him make the strap. Leica let's talk. LOL I got the adjustable one eBay: IMPROVED! Advertisement Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Hi Guest guy_mancuso, Take a look here Luigi Delux strap. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Cindy Flood Posted February 1, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2007 I have one on my M8, too. Luigi does beautiful work. I'm in for the handstrap if it materializes.
osera Posted February 1, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 1, 2007 Guy- The Luigi half case for the M8 and other M-series with the built in grip is also a joy to handle. It's drawback is that it has to be removed to change the card/battery. Same drawback of course with changing film. Even so, I use it frequently, then and now. It feels so much more comfortable than the Leica grip. Luigi is a pleasure to deal with as well. He has a really charming web site, IMO: Leicatime Luigi Crescenzi : leica cameras leica compur mp elmar 250 reporter leicavit Click on the Luigi's cases link there. LJL Posted February 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2007 Guy and Allen and Cindy, As I had mentioned in another thread, Luigi is working on a "custom" half case model with grip that will incorporate a hand strap in the proper position. This case will have reinforcment around the grip to handle the weight/grip issue when used with a handstrap. This does not get around the issue that Allen mentions about needing to remove the case to get to SD card or battery. I had specifically asked him to work on a hand strap. That may have some other utilities with a good design, but right now, there is nothing that easily accomodates an attachement. Having an option to use some grip without a case, but having a Luigi handstrap would be really nice also. LJ
papimuzo Posted February 1, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2007 I can sure second Osera: can you imagine guys that my Luigi's case and strap are waiting my M8??? It seems that Switzerland is a forgotten land by Leica:eek: Passing time by learning C1LE on downloaded DNG and playing with this forum profiles. Once more, many thanks to all experts here. Cheers. Cindy Flood Posted February 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 1, 2007 LJ, I read your earlier post about the half-case with the handstrap. I am eagerly waiting to hear more before purchasing a half-case for my M8. Right now I am using Luigi's deluxe strap and a neoprene case. LJL Posted February 1, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cindy, I just had an email exchange with Luigi. He is very backed up with many orders, but he is working on the design/build that he and I had discussed. He will let me know as soon as he has something, and I will post for others. He also said he is thinking about just a hand strap, but knows the design is going to be very tricky because of attachment points. That may take more time. As Guy commented, it sure would be nice if Leica got together with Luigi to fashion something that would permit the hand grip to be used with a great leather hand strap. I like that idea. carstenw Posted February 1, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2007 Perhaps Luigi should work together with Tom Abrahams, who is currently making a handle?
j. borger Posted February 1, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2007 Luigi makes the most beautiful straps in the world ..... and is a great guy to deal with! Every RF camera deserves a Luigi strap!
marknorton Posted February 1, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 1, 2007 After my bad experience with the Leica split rings, how qare the ones which Luigi uses? Do they snag in the eyelet and are the cut ends sharp enough to damage the eyelets. Got a quote from Leica to replace the eyelets - €500. Gulp. carstenw Posted February 1, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 1, 2007 €500????? Wow. Learn to live with it, or maybe find someone who can smooth them out, and make them look nicely worn, and then just add patina
marknorton Posted February 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 1, 2007 I spent a few minutes with a piece of P1500 paper and tidied them up, but no way am I going to use the Leica split rings again!

Jamie Roberts Posted February 2, 2007 Share #15 Posted February 2, 2007 Hey folks, I'm hearing how beautiful the strap is, but how comfortable, secure and adjustable is the strap? At a wedding, I might wear this thing for hours at a time, along with (at least) another camera or two. So I'm interested in security first, comfort second and quickly adjustable third. I swear if Think Tank Photo did Leica-specific gear I'd buy it all... UPDATE: I saw the "easily adjustable" text on the eBay ad.... but that's all relative, right? It makes you blind! Manfred Oh, is that what's making me blind?? LOL I actually find his site very entertaining. Certainly avoids the slick commercial look... Mark- The metal rings have never caused any problems for me. Once they're attached, they can be rotated so the ring edges are in the leather part of the strap. I guess they must stay put, because I don't seem to have any of those nicks on the eyelets Here's a close-up of the rings: Welcome, dear visitor! Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 2, 2007 Share #17 Posted February 2, 2007 Jamie it is adjustable although could be a touch longer but still good. Comfort is great and holds very well on the shoulder and did I mention soft. Feels like a well worn pair of shoes already
